Yawn Up a Storm! is the name of one of the main story's Important Requests in Pokémon Pokopia, and it's connected to the Withered Wasteland area. In this entry of our guide, we'll explain how to complete each step of this mission so you can finish it without any trouble and avoid getting stuck.

How to get Slowpoke to perform a 100-point yawn

To complete the Yawn Up a Storm! mission after unlocking Slowpoke in the Withered Wasteland and bringing it to the Pokémon Center, you need to raise the biome's overall humidity level enough for the Pokémon to perform a 100-point yawn.

To reach this total score, you'll need to complete a series of small tasks similar to regular Requests. Some of them can be completed in any order, and you may even have finished a few already simply by playing the game. Either way, make sure you speak to the Pokémon connected to each task after completing it so that it counts toward your progress.

In case you're unsure what to do, these are the tasks you need to complete to raise the area's humidity:

Spray water on the dry ground

This task is simple. Just use Water Gun to wet the dry ground and dried grass around the Withered Wasteland. You'll need to soak enough terrain for a speech bubble to appear above Professor Tangrowth's head, indicating that you've completed the task. Speak to him to confirm it.

Free the springs

Slowpoke will ask you to release the spring water trapped around the area so it can fill several dried-up ponds. To do this, you need to find and break three blocks with small cracks that have water spraying out of them. Destroying these blocks with Rock Smash will release a stream of water.

There are three of these blocks in the Withered Wasteland, and you can find them in the following locations:

  • Spring block No. 1: it's in the starting area where the game's tutorial took place and where you first met Squirtle.
  • Spring block No. 2: head behind the Pokémon Center and follow the wall to the left of the Horsea fountain to find this spring block.
  • Spring block No. 3: destroy the wall to the right of the Pokémon Center to open a passage, then look for this block on the cliff wall near the dried-up pond.

Create the Hydrated Tall Grass habitat for Squirtle

Squirtle will ask you to create this type of habitat so it can live there. You can create Hydrated Tall Grass by placing four patches of Tall Grass right beside a natural body of water. Be careful, as seawater doesn't count. You can use the water from the springs for this and quickly place the Tall Grass with the Leafage move.

Once you've created the habitat, speak to Squirtle and ask it to follow you. Take it to the habitat and invite it to move in.

Create the Field of Flowers habitat

Bulbasaur will ask you to create a Field of Flowers habitat, which requires you to place a total of eight Wildflowers together.

Remember that you can plant this type of flower seed in the ground and bring Bulbasaur with you so it can make them grow faster with its Grow specialty. You can also use Rototiller to uproot fully grown Wildflowers from one spot and place them somewhere else. Drilbur teaches you this move if you've already met it.

After creating the habitat, Bulbasaur will also ask you to water some dried-up trees scattered throughout the biome. There are plenty of them, so this shouldn't take long.

Create the Rain Dance Site habitat

After completing everything above and soaking enough dry terrain throughout the biome, Slowpoke will begin to feel a little sleepy. Speak to it and then meet up with Squirtle, who will have come up with an idea: creating a habitat called a Rain Dance Site.

You'll need several things to create this habitat. First, you need a plate and any type of food, such as a Leppa Berry. You'll also need two Castform Weather Charms. Speak to Professor Tangrowth and he'll tell you that you can collect two from his hideout, the cave where you first met him at the beginning of the game.

Once you have everything, place the items together and make sure both Castform Weather Charms are hanging on a wall and set to their Rain Form, rather than their Sunny Form. After doing this, speak to Tangrowth and you'll finally have enough humidity in the area for Slowpoke to perform a 100-point yawn.

Meet Kyogre at the pier

Finally, after making it rain a little, the Legendary Pokémon Kyogre will appear in the biome, on the beach near the mysterious tower. Head there with your companions. You'll need to find a way to reach Kyogre at the broken pier...

Fortunately, you can easily craft the new recipe you've just learned, the Walkway, although you can also place other objects to reach Kyogre. Either way, speaking to it will register Kyogre in your Pokédex, raise your Trainer Rank to Great Ball, and make it start pouring with rain.

Now that it's raining heavily enough, you can complete the mission's final objective. Return to the Onix trapped inside the cave and smash the blocks preventing it from escaping to set it free.

That's it—mission complete!
