Just like the base game, the Bubbly Basin area in Pokémon Pokopia has its own food recipes. This first DLC introduces new exclusive smoothie recipes, along with several special dishes made using ingredients native to the underwater town. In this entry of our guide, we'll explain how to unlock these recipes, how to prepare them, and everything you need to know about their ingredients, effects, and more...
To prepare the new smoothie recipes introduced in Pokopia DLC 1, you'll need to obtain a specific item and cooking appliance exclusive to the expansion: the Blender. However, before you can unlock it, you'll need to progress far enough through the Bubbly Basin story, as you must first complete the Important Request "Build the Beautiful Building".
This is the expansion's longest and most complex mission. It becomes available once the area's Environment Level reaches 3 and requires you to build the Ocean Temple with the help of Popplio and several other Pokémon. You can find full details on how to complete every step of the request in the linked guide.
After building the Ocean Temple, you'll need to find Mudkip. If you haven't registered it yet, you can make it appear in the town by creating either the Basin Tall Grass or Fluffy Relaxation habitat. After completing Popplio's request mentioned above, Mudkip will have a speech bubble above its head. Talk to it, and it will tell you about smoothies and how much it would like to try one.
This conversation unlocks the crafting recipe for the Blender, as Mudkip gives you a request called "Smoothie Making", which simply asks you to prepare any smoothie for it. From this point onward, you can craft as many Blenders as you like at a Workbench. Each one costs 2 Pokémetal.
There are a total of six types of smoothie recipes you can prepare using a Blender in Pokémon Pokopia DLC 1: Bubbly Basin. These recipes always use a Watermelon Slice as their main ingredient, mixed with other types of food.
Below, you can check the requirements and details for every smoothie recipe:
| Recipe | Ingredients and requirements | Flavor |
|---|---|---|
Watermelon Smoothie |
| Neutral |
Sea Grape Smoothie |
| Dry |
Leppa Smoothie |
| Sweet |
Red-Hot Smoothie |
| Spicy |
Refreshing Soda Smoothie |
| Sour |
Coffee Parfait Smoothie |
| Bitter |
Every smoothie recipe powers up Ditto's Surf transformation. After drinking one, you'll be able to use Surf even while underwater, making it much easier to travel around Bubbly Basin quickly.
As mentioned above, Watermelon Slices are the key ingredient in every smoothie recipe. Watermelons are a new type of food that can be grown by planting them in fertile soil. In fact, you'll find several Watermelons ready to grow in the small crop field in Bubbly Basin's main plaza. You may also eventually be able to buy more Watermelon Seeds from the PC shop.
As with other crops, you can make Watermelons grow by watering them and waiting long enough, or by using a Pokémon with the Grow specialty to speed up the process. Once you have Watermelons in your inventory, however, you'll need to show them to a Pokémon with the Chop specialty, which will cut them up and turn them into Watermelon Slices.
There are several Pokémon in DLC 1 with this specialty, including Totodile, Croconaw, Feraligatr, Carvanha, Sharpedo, Buizel, Golisopod, Chewtle, and Drednaw. Use them to obtain the slices you need for your recipes.
In addition to the smoothie recipes listed above, DLC 1: Bubbly Basin also introduces four new exclusive dishes, one for each of the base game's recipe categories: salads, soups, breads, and hamburger steaks. Their requirements, ingredients, and effects are as follows:
| Recipe | Required equipment | Ingredients and requirements | Flavor |
|---|---|---|---|
Popping Salad | Cutting Board |
| Bitter |
Popping Soup | Cooking Pot |
| Bitter |
Watermelon Bread | Bread Oven |
| Sweet |
Explosive Hamburger Steak | Frying Pan |
| Spicy |
And those are all the recipes included in Pokémon Pokopia DLC 1!
