Pokémon Pokopia: How to Find Shiny Pokémon
Wondering how to find Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Pokopia or which ones are available in the game? Here, we answer both questions.
One of the most recognizable features of the Pokémon series across many of its games is the appearance of Shiny Pokémon: special variants whose colors differ from their standard versions. Now that Pokémon Pokopia has launched for Nintendo Switch 2, many players may be wondering how to find Shiny Pokémon in this game.
Well, the answer is a little more complicated than you might expect. There are several important things about this aspect of the game that you need to know if you're interested in collecting Shinies. Below, we'll explain all the details in this entry of our guide.
Can You Find Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Pokopia?
Surprisingly, at the time of writing, we know that there are no Shiny Pokémon of any species in Pokémon Pokopia. In other words, at least since the worldwide launch of this franchise spin-off, no one has found a Shiny Pokémon in their game.
Shiny Pokémon have appeared to some extent in the mainline Pokémon games since the second generation, as well as in several spin-offs. Although most entries have featured a small number of shiny locks—species that can never appear in their Shiny form—veteran players may find it strange, and even disappointing, that not a single Pokémon in Pokémon Pokopia is available as a Shiny.
As things currently stand, however, there is no method for finding Shiny Pokémon in this game. The reason may be that Pokopia only allows you to encounter one individual of each species included in the Pokédex.
In other words, suppose you create a habitat where Pidgey can appear. Once it shows up, you befriend it, and it is registered in the Pokédex, another Pidgey can never appear in your game, even if you create more of its favorite habitats.
This may explain why Game Freak decided not to include Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Pokopia. Still, the company could possibly add one in the future through an update or special event. We can't say for certain that this will happen, but you never know... We'll keep an eye out and update this page if anything changes. For now, just remember: there are no Shiny Pokémon in Pokopia.
