The Dark- and Ghost-type Pokémon Sableye, which was originally introduced in Gen III, is one of the Pokémon featured in a special event available for a limited time in the Nintendo Switch 2 game Pokémon Pokopia. The event is called Sableye's Gem Hunt, and in this entry in our guide, we'll show you its worldwide availability dates and times, exactly how to add Sableye to the Pokédex, how to create its specific habitat, and which unique items you can obtain from the shop while the event is available.
These are the dates and times scheduled for the Sableye's Gem Hunt event in Pokémon Pokopia:
During the Sableye event in Pokopia, players can exclusively add Sableye to the Event Pokédex very easily. All you need to do is speak to the Pokémon for the first time. While the event is underway, Sableye will appear wandering outside any Pokémon Center you have fully rebuilt in any of the game's main areas.
In our case, for example, when we loaded the game during the event, we found Sableye wandering outside the Pokémon Center in the Withered Wastelands. As soon as you see it, talk to it and you'll become friends right away. Sableye will then move inside the Pokémon Center, where it will sell unique items until the event ends.
Once the event ends and Sableye leaves the Pokémon Center shop, you'll be able to have it move into a home wherever you like. You may want to create its own dedicated habitat to keep it happy.
Sableye's specific habitat is called the Treasure-hunting set, and you can create it by placing the following items together in the same location:
Bear in mind that these items can only be purchased during the event using red crystal fragments, so don't miss your chance to obtain them if you want to create the habitat. However, as explained above, you do not need to build this habitat to befriend Sableye.
Red crystal fragments are the special resource featured in Sableye's event, and they can only be obtained during trips to Dream Islands while the event is active. On any type of Dream Island, you can find red crystal fragments inside the underground cave located in the middle of the island. They're easy to spot because they look like clusters of sharp red crystals, like the ones shown in the screenshot above.
You can break these crystals with the Rock Smash move to collect their fragments. Their appearance is random, but remember that they only appear inside the island's cave. You can visit islands every day during the event to find more. If you want to purchase at least one of every exclusive event item, you'll need to collect a total of 64 red crystal fragments.
If you want to maximize the number of fragments you obtain, we recommend using the Arcanine or Clefairy Dolls when traveling to Dream Islands. The islands reached with these Dolls generally have the largest caves and therefore contain more red crystals for you to farm.
Inside the Pokémon Center where Sableye sets up shop for the duration of the event, you can exchange red crystal fragments for the following 10 exclusive treasure-hunting-themed items:
Don't forget that you can use the console's date-changing trick to travel back to when this event took place. It's an easy way to experience the event whenever you like if you missed it or want to obtain more of its items.
