DLC 1: Bubbly Basin for Pokémon Pokopia has its own exclusive Dream Island that players can travel to with Drifloon's help, just like in the base game, although in this case you'll need to obtain a brand-new Doll added in the first expansion. Naturally, this island has its own themed items and other content worth checking out, so since we know you'll probably want to visit it, in this entry of our guide we're going to tell you everything you need to know about it, from how to unlock the Doll used to get there to the materials and resources you can find on it.
To travel to the Dream Island introduced in Pokémon Pokopia DLC 1, you first need to obtain the Starmie Doll, the new type of Doll included in this expansion. However, to unlock it, you first need to progress far enough in the Bubbly Basin story.
The first thing you need to do is progress until you unlock the Important Request "Build the Beautiful Building", which becomes available after talking to Popplio once you've reached Environment Level 3.
During this mission, Popplio will ask you to gather several Pokémon to help construct the Ocean Temple. From this point onward, you'll want to look for Female Frillish, since this is the Pokémon that can help you obtain the Starmie Doll.
To find Female Frillish, head toward the bridge located north of the lot where the Ocean Temple is being built. Cross the bridge and immediately go left toward a sort of tunnel sealed off by stone blocks, near a garden. Break the blocks to find Female Frillish there.
Frillish wants to explore a cave further ahead, so start by cutting through the nets and making your way forward by smashing more rocks until you reach it. There, Frillish will explain that it senses a treasure nearby: a Starmie Doll.
For the next step, you need to have the Dowsing Machine item in your inventory (you should already have one by this point). Equip it and start walking while using it, and Frillish will guide you toward a treasure. You'll need to go into the water at the back of the cave and keep progressing downward through some mines.
During this section, Frillish may detect a treasure that turns out not to be the Starmie Doll. If that happens, don't worry. Keep moving deeper into the cave until you reach a mine-like area with blue crystals and tracks on the floor. In this area, Frillish should detect a treasure hidden inside the walls. Pay attention to the place it points out and break the blocks to find the Starmie Doll.
Keep in mind that the only way to obtain the Starmie Doll is by helping Female Frillish during the "Build the Beautiful Building" mission, just as we've explained above. So now you know what to do to unlock it.
Once you've obtained the Starmie Doll this way, you can buy additional copies from the PC shop in Bubbly Basin's Pokémon Center in exchange for 300 Pokébits.
In general terms, Basin Dream Island works much like the rest of the Dream Islands in the base game. Every day at 5:00 a.m., the island "resets" and changes procedurally to offer new resources and items.
Most importantly, on every visit to this island, you can always find the following three types of materials exclusive to DLC 1:
On top of that, Basin Dream Island also contains many other types of resources related to the DLC and the aquatic theme of Bubbly Basin, as well as new furniture and items, such as oriental furniture, marine roofs, harps, posters, seabed flowers, and more...
On the other hand, Basin Dream Island can also contain up to six collectible Human Records, which can appear at random each day inside the underwater cave in the mountain at the island's center. You can also pick up Red Poké Balls and Yellow Poké Balls. The latter unlock records for habitats you still don't know about and Pokémon you haven't registered yet, or contain Pokémetal Ingots.
In addition, Basin Dream Island also hides the appearance of Phione, the Mythical Pokémon. This Pokémon can appear at random in the underwater cave at the center of the island. If you're lucky, one of your visits will trigger its appearance so you can befriend it and have it move with you to Bubbly Basin.
Aside from that, Basin Dream Island may also contain other typical Dream Island resources, such as Stardust or glowing spots on the ground that contain relics and other surprises.
