Wish Upon a Jirachi is the name of one of the free special events available in the Nintendo Switch 2 game Pokémon Pokopia. The star of this particular event is none other than the Gen III Steel- and Psychic-type Mythical Pokémon Jirachi. In this entry in our guide, we'll show you the event's worldwide availability dates and times, exactly how to add Jirachi to the Pokédex, how to create its specific habitat, and which unique items you can obtain from the shop while the event is available.

During the Wish Upon a Jirachi event in Pokopia, any player can exclusively add this Mythical Pokémon to the Event Pokédex very easily. All you need to do is speak to Jirachi for the first time. While the event is underway, it will appear wandering outside any Pokémon Center you have fully rebuilt in one of the game's main areas.
In our case, for example, when we loaded the game during the event, we found Jirachi wandering outside the Pokémon Center in the Withered Wastelands. As soon as you see it, talk to it and you'll become friends right away. Jirachi will then move inside the Pokémon Center, where it will sell unique items until the event ends or you ask it to close the shop for the day.
Once the event ends and Jirachi leaves the Pokémon Center shop, you'll be able to have it move into a home wherever you like. You may want to create its own dedicated habitat to keep it happy.
Jirachi's specific habitat is called Surrounded by stars, and you can create it by placing the following items together in the same location:
Bear in mind that these items can only be purchased during the event using Shining Wish Notes, so don't miss your chance to obtain them if you want to build the habitat. However, as explained above, you do not need to create this habitat to befriend Jirachi.
You should also make sure that the Jirachi lamp is switched on for the habitat to activate properly. You can power it with a Pokémon that has the Electrify specialty or connect it to an energy source that generates electricity.
Shining Wish Notes are the special resource featured in Jirachi's event. They can only be obtained during Wish Upon a Jirachi by granting wishes and completing requests for certain Pokémon.
The first time you speak to Jirachi and befriend it, it will teach you the crafting recipe for Wish Notes. From that point on, you can easily craft these notes at any workbench using only 2 Vine Ropes, as shown in the screenshot below:
Once you have Wish Notes in your bag, you can give them to Pokémon that are worried and want to ask you for a favor. You'll recognize these worried Pokémon by the speech bubbles above their heads containing messages such as "What am I going to do...?" or "I'm in a real bind...".
Bear in mind that these concerns appear at random among the Pokémon already living in an area's habitats and only occur during Jirachi's event. Speak to one of these Pokémon and it will ask you for a favor, which will become a limited-time request if you accept it.
Before accepting requests from worried Pokémon, however, you need to give them a Wish Note. Once you have completed their request, the Wish Note will turn into a Shining Wish Note, which you can then exchange for exclusive items at Jirachi's shop.
The wishes and requests made by worried Pokémon come in several forms, but they are usually simple tasks. For example, they may ask you to give them a particular food recipe, decorate their home with a specific item, or bring them a certain material. Generally speaking, you shouldn't have too much trouble completing them before time runs out.
If you want to obtain at least one of every exclusive event item, you'll need to collect a total of 10 Shining Wish Notes.
Inside the Pokémon Center where Jirachi sets up shop for the duration of the Wish Upon a Jirachi event, you can obtain the following 10 exclusive star-themed items:
All these items cost 1 Shining Wish Note each. Bear in mind, however, that a single exchange for the Star wall decoration gives you ten units.
Unlike some other events, Wish Upon a Jirachi cannot be accessed simply by changing your console's date. The system date and time must match the current real-world time, and an internet connection is required the first time you start the event.
