One of the most important gameplay mechanics in Pokémon Pokopia is its crafting system, which lets you build and make all kinds of items, tools, furniture, buildings, and much more. To craft all kinds of objects in Pokémon Pokopia, you'll need an item called a workbench. The first one available can be found near the Pokémon Center in the Withered Wasteland, and you'll need to interact with it during the adventure's tutorial to progress through the story.
Each of the game's biomes contains more workbenches scattered across different locations. However, right from the beginning of the game, you can easily craft additional workbenches using just 2 Stones, allowing you to place them wherever you like.
When you use a workbench, you'll see all the crafting recipes and blueprints you've learned so far, divided into categories such as furniture, flooring, decorations, and more.
Crafting each item always requires a certain amount of different materials. You'll need to have the appropriate resources in your inventory or, alternatively, have placed a storage chest right beside the workbench containing the required resources. In fact, it's always a good idea to keep a chest beside a workbench, as this lets you use the materials stored inside it directly when crafting new items.
Once you've crafted an item at the workbench, it will be added to your inventory. The system is very easy to understand and fairly straightforward. However, you may be wondering how to unlock more recipes so you can craft more and more items. Let's take a look.
Pokémon Pokopia features several different ways to unlock new crafting recipes and blueprints for your workbench. Below, we'll explain each of them:
As you complete both Important Requests and regular Requests for Pokémon, you'll sometimes receive new recipes. Make sure you don't overlook these missions if you want to expand the number of blueprints available at your workbench.
While exploring the game's different areas, pick up every Poké Ball you see scattered on the ground—the ones that glow gold—to unlock new recipes.
As you befriend more Pokémon by creating their habitats, you'll be guaranteed to receive new recipes at certain milestones. In other words, simply completing the Pokédex will allow you to discover more crafting recipes.
Sparkling rings can randomly appear in any body of water in the game. You'll also be able to hear them when you're nearby, as they produce a distinctive sound effect. Make sure you examine them whenever you see one, as they may randomly reward you with a new recipe that isn't already in your collection.
Whenever you raise an area's Environment Level by increasing the Comfy Level of the Pokémon living there, new items will become available in the PC Shop beside the Pokémon Center.
Among the items available to purchase with Life Coins, you'll also find item blueprints, which are marked with a hammer icon. Purchase these blueprints to permanently unlock their crafting recipes.
Last but not least, try to collect every item and material you come across at least once. Why? Because obtaining certain objects for the first time will inspire Ditto to come up with a new recipe for something you can craft at a workbench.
