Since Pokémon Pokopia puts us in control of a very special Ditto that can transform into a human and, of course, imitate other Pokémon, some of the most important things we can unlock throughout the adventure are new special moves and even transformations with all sorts of incredibly useful applications. You could think of them as abilities or powers...

These moves and transformations can be learned as you discover new Pokémon for your Pokédex by creating habitats and befriending them. To help you keep track of how many there are, what their effects are, and which conditions and requirements you need to meet to unlock them, this entry of our guide contains everything you need to know about this mechanic.

All useful moves

As you discover new Pokémon and earn their trust by raising their Comfy Level and completing Requests for them, you can learn useful moves associated with different Pokémon types. These moves require you to spend PP whenever you use them, which can be restored by eating food. Remember that you can also eat certain dishes from our food recipe list to temporarily increase their effectiveness.

Water Gun

  • What does it do? It lets you water terrain, tall grass, flowers, withered trees, and crops.
  • How do you get it? Befriend Squirtle during the game's opening tutorial after speaking to it for the first time.
  • How is it powered up? By eating any kind of soup.

Leafage

Pokémon Pokopia - How to unlock the Leafage special move for Ditto
  • What does it do? It lets you create tall grass in a selected area.
  • How do you get it? Befriend Bulbasaur during the game's opening tutorial after completing the "Water dry grass!" Request by using Water Gun to revive 10 patches of dry green tall grass.
  • How is it powered up? By eating any kind of salad.

Cut

Pokémon Pokopia - How to unlock the Cut special move for Ditto
  • What does it do? It lets you cut tree branches and logs while also collecting materials.
  • How do you get it? Befriend Scyther after finding it in a Tree-shaded tall grass habitat and completing the "Sturdy sticks, please!" Request by giving it 2 Sturdy Sticks.
  • How is it powered up? By eating any kind of bread.

Rock Smash

  • What does it do? It lets you break boulders, rocks, and walls while also collecting materials.
  • How do you get it? Befriend Hitmonchan after finding it in an Exercise resting spot habitat and completing the "Stones, please!" Request by giving it 2 Stones.
  • How is it powered up? By eating any kind of Hamburger Steak.

Splash

Pokémon Pokopia - How to unlock the Splash special move for Ditto
  • What does it do? It lets you jump over changes in terrain elevation.
  • How do you get it? Befriend Magikarp after finding it on the shore of the Withered Wasteland and completing the "Help make a home!" Request by creating an Ocean fishing spot habitat.

Rototiller

  • What does it do? It lets you till the soil and create plots for growing crops.
  • How do you get it? Befriend Drilbur after finding it in the eastern part of the Withered Wasteland and completing the "Soak the soil!" Request by watering the dry ground near Drilbur.

Strength

  • What does it do? It lets you push boulders and other heavy objects to move them somewhere else.
  • How do you get it? Befriend Machoke after finding it in Rocky Ridges by creating a Grassy training field habitat.

Suck Up Liquids

Pokémon Pokopia - How to unlock the Suck Up Liquids special move for Ditto
  • What does it do? It lets you enter the water and suck liquid into your mouth before spitting it out wherever you like, allowing you to create pools, ponds, swimming areas, and even waterfalls.
  • How do you get it? It can be unlocked during the "Make a waterfall!" Request given to you by Piplup at Bleak Beach. During this Request, you'll need to create a Marshy tall grass habitat to befriend Paldean Wooper if you haven't already done so. You'll then need to complete the "Juicy, red tomatoes!" Request by giving Wooper 3 Tomatoes so it will teach you the move.

Waterfall

Pokémon Pokopia - How to unlock the Waterfall special move for Ditto
  • What does it do? It lets you quickly climb waterfalls while using the Surf transformation.
  • How do you get it? Befriend Gyarados, which can be found in the Sparkling Skylands biome in a body of water on the island in the northwestern corner of the area, and complete the "Bread bowl, please!" Request by giving it a Bread Bowl. If you don't have one yet, you can find several above Gyarados's location inside a Poké Ball hidden behind some walls.

Dive

Pokémon Pokopia - How to unlock the Dive special move for Ditto
  • What does it do? It lets you breathe underwater, allowing you to dive beneath the sea to explore its depths and build there.
  • How do you get it? Starting with the free update released on August 5, 2026, Manaphy can teach you this move at Bleak Beach. However, you must first have completed the "Raise the environment level!" Request in this area and learned the Surf transformation. Once you've done both, Professor Tangrowth will tell you that an island has appeared out at sea, activating the "Go to the island across the sea!" Request. Surf over to the island to find Manaphy. The Pokémon will ask you for 5 bunches of Seaweed to eat. Give them to Manaphy, and it will teach you Dive in return.

All special transformations

In addition to the special moves listed above, Ditto can also learn certain unique transformations that temporarily change its body and give it access to a particular move or special abilities.

Surf

  • What does it do? It lets you swim across bodies of water so you can easily travel to other areas and islands.
  • How do you get it? Befriend Lapras at Bleak Beach after finding it by creating a Tropical seaside habitat, then complete Piplup's "Swimming time!" Request by asking Lapras to teach you how to swim.

Camouflage

Pokémon Pokopia - How to unlock the Camouflage special transformation for Ditto
  • What does it do? It lets you camouflage yourself by copying the appearance of any object in front of you, which is also useful for playing playing hide-and-seek.
  • How do you get it? Befriend Zorua after repairing the Pokémon Center at Bleak Beach. It will appear camouflaged as a block that you can hit with Rock Smash. Then complete its "Show off some toy blocks!" Request by crafting some Toy Blocks and bringing them to Zorua.

Rollout

Pokémon Pokopia - How to unlock the Rollout special transformation for Ditto
  • What does it do? It lets you take on Graveler's appearance and roll around, quickly smashing through anything in your path.
  • How do you get it? Befriend Graveler in Rocky Ridges by creating a Mossy boulder habitat, then continue progressing through the game until Machoke asks you to speak to it.

Glide

Pokémon Pokopia - How to unlock the Glide special transformation for Ditto
  • What does it do? It lets you glide through the air to travel more quickly to other areas and cross large gaps.
  • How do you get it? Befriend Dragonite after finding it in Sparkling Skylands by creating a Waterside dinghy habitat.

Magnet Rise

Pokémon Pokopia - How to unlock the Magnet Rise special transformation for Ditto
  • What does it do? It lets you fly up and down so you can move freely wherever you like. You can also break anything in front of you, which will automatically be stored in your inventory, or spit out items from your Bag after choosing the desired quantity. You can also activate Replace mode to swap the objects you spit out for anything already placed in a particular location.
  • How do you get it? Befriend Magnemite after finding it beneath the mysterious tower in the Withered Wasteland once you've completed the "Do the... Team Initiation Challenge?" Important Request. Then complete the "Help make a home!" Request by creating a Factory storage habitat.
