The DLC 1: Bubbly Basin expansion for Pokémon Pokopia includes several Important Requests, as you might expect. Some of them will feel familiar if you've already played through the base game's main adventure, such as the one that asks you to rebuild this area's Pokémon Center. However, one particular request is far more special and complex than the others. We're obviously referring to Build the Beautiful Building, a mission given to you by Popplio after you've raised the area's Environment Level to at least 3.
Below, in case you're having trouble with any part of this request, this entry of our guide will explain in detail everything you need to do to build the Ocean Temple, including the requirements, materials and Pokémon you'll need, the rewards you'll receive, and much more.
As usual, the first step toward constructing the Ocean Temple kit is to clear the area where the building will be placed. In this case, you'll need to break quite a few sand and stone blocks, so we recommend using the Rollout transformation to speed up the entire process. It isn't particularly difficult.
Remember that nothing can be obstructing the construction area, so you'll also need to pick up any materials and resources left behind, including branches, stones, blocks, and so on...
Once the area is suitable for construction, the semitransparent fences surrounding the building site will no longer appear red.
To construct the Ocean Temple, you'll need to deliver six specific types of materials in the following amounts:
Stone and Seashells shouldn't be difficult to obtain, as they appear in abundance throughout this biome. Star-spotted Rock is also a type of block that is plentiful around Bubbly Basin. Meanwhile, Shiny Pearls can be obtained by giving Grubby Pearls to Pokémon with the Scrub specialty, such as Shellder. You can find more details about this process in the linked guide.
Finally, you'll need to craft the 10 pieces of Seashell Fencing at a Workbench. Its recipe can be purchased from the Pokémon Center shop once the area's Environment Level reaches 3. You'll also need to craft two Ocean Doors, whose recipe can be found inside a yellow Poké Ball hidden among the blocks you must break while clearing the construction site.
Alternatively, if you'd rather avoid crafting these items, you can pick them up around Bubbly Basin whenever you see them—there are fences in the main square, for example—or you may find them at random, with a little luck, during visits to the Basin Dream Island.
In any case, each piece of Seashell Fencing requires 1 Star-spotted Rock and 1 Shiny Pearl, while each Ocean Door only requires 1 Star-spotted Rock. All things considered, obtaining the materials needed for the Ocean Temple isn't especially demanding.
The building project naturally requires plenty of workers, and in this case you'll need to gather a total of 15 different Pokémon. Bear in mind that nine of them can be any species, so start creating DLC habitats to bring more Pokémon into the area if you still don't have enough.
However, bear in mind that seven of the Pokémon must be the following specific species:
Popplio will join the construction project once you've recruited the other six Pokémon listed above. You can ask Popplio about them to receive clues concerning their whereabouts. Essentially, you'll need to complete a short request for each of them—in whichever order you prefer—to recruit them and convince them to help with the project.
To find Corphish, first create the Sandy Basin Tall Grass habitat by placing four patches of Seabed Tall Grass beside a Sandpile.
Corphish will then ask you to build the Sharpedo Submarine kit. This is a type of home whose kit can be purchased from the PC shop and requires the following materials:
Once you've finished constructing the building, Corphish will be ready to help build the Ocean Temple.
If you don't have Corsola yet, you can find it easily by creating the Basin Tall Grass & Coral habitat. To do so, place four patches of Seabed Tall Grass beside one Small Coral and one Tall Coral.
Corsola will ask you to help water the seeds growing in the small crop field in the main square. Use a Pokémon with the Water specialty, such as Mudkip, and then have Corsola speed up the seeds' growth using its Grow specialty. This will cause Watermelons to sprout from the ground.
Corsola will then want to try one, but you'll need to cut it first. To do so, give the Watermelon to a Pokémon with the Chop specialty, such as Carvanha, which can be found in the Seaweed & Netting habitat. Once you have some Watermelon Slices, give one to Corsola to complete its request.
To find Mareanie, first create the Swaying Flower Bed & Coral habitat by placing four Seabed Flowers beside some Colorful Corals. Mareanie will ask you for a Shiny Pearl, which you're quite likely to have in your inventory already if you've delivered the materials for the temple. If you still don't have one, make sure you give a Grubby Pearl to a Pokémon with the Scrub specialty.
Mareanie's request will then continue, and this time the Pokémon will ask you to craft a Marine Sofa and place it in its home. You can craft this type of sofa using one Shiny Pearl, one Seashell, and one Twine.
After placing the sofa in Mareanie's habitat, the Pokémon will be satisfied and ready to help with the temple's construction.
Unlike most of the other Pokémon, Totodile can be found at a specific location in Bubbly Basin, so you don't need to create a habitat to make it appear. You'll find it standing on a bridge north of the site where the Ocean Temple will be built. It's difficult to miss.
Talk to Totodile and agree to play with it. Then follow it and play hide-and-seek in the park. Follow it once again until it shows you a Bubble Machine that has been switched off inside a bathroom. Totodile will ask you to turn it on. To do so, you can bring a Pokémon with the Generate specialty to this location, such as Chinchou, which appears after you create the Fluffy Relaxation habitat.
You can also use electricity-generating equipment to power the machine. Either way, once you've activated it, Totodile will be happy and ready to help with the construction project.
Barboach can also be found at a specific location instead of being attracted by one of its habitats. It appears inside a ruined house near the bridge where Totodile was waiting and the pagoda-style tower.
Talk to Barboach and it will tell you that it wants a Seashell Seat located inside the dark ocean trench below its position. The area is dark, but you can explore it relatively easily with the help of the Lampions and seaweed. The seat also isn't particularly difficult to find.
Once you've collected the seat, bring it back to Barboach. It will then ask you to create the Ocean Rest Spot habitat to complete its request. This requires placing the Seashell Seat beside one Small Coral and one Lampion.
Female Frillish is the final Pokémon required for this mission that can be found in a specific location rather than by creating one of its habitats. Cross the bridge where Totodile was waiting and head left toward a tunnel blocked by stone blocks, close to a garden. Break the blocks to find Female Frillish inside.
The Pokémon will tell you that it wants to explore a cave farther ahead. Begin by cutting through the netting, then continue breaking stones to reach the cave. Once inside, Frillish will explain that it can sense a treasure nearby: a Starmie Doll.
For the next step, you'll need to have the Dowsing Machine in your inventory. You should already have one by this point. Equip it and begin walking while using it, allowing Frillish to guide you toward any nearby treasure. You'll first need to enter the water at the back of the cave and continue descending through a series of mines.
Frillish will probably detect some treasure along the way, but it most likely won't be the Starmie Doll yet. To find the doll, continue farther until you reach a mine containing blue crystals and tracks running along the ground. Frillish should detect a nearby treasure in this area, hidden inside the walls. Pay attention to the spot it points toward and break the blocks to find the Starmie Doll.
After obtaining the doll, Frillish will be happy and ready to help construct the Ocean Temple.
Finally, after gathering all the materials and Pokémon, you'll be able to begin construction. The building process only takes one hour of real time. Once it's complete, you can enter the building and find Manaphy inside, the Mythical Pokémon that taught you Dive in Bleak Beach.
From this point onward, Manaphy will remain in the area and will be registered in your Pokédex. Remember that you can move it into a house to make it more comfortable. And that's everything: Manaphy is the final reward for completing the Build the Beautiful Building request.
