Resident Evil 2 Remake: Leon and Claire 2nd Run (Scenario B) 100% Guide

Find out how to complete Leon or Claire’s 2nd Run (Route B or Scenario B) 100% after finishing the game with either character.

Once you've completed Story Mode once with either character (what was originally known as Scenario A), the 2nd Run option will become available from the main menu. Here's how this mode works, which is essentially the equivalent of Scenario B from the original game:

  • First of all, this is not a New Game Plus mode.
  • Just like when starting a New Game, you can choose between Leon and Claire, but only if you have already completed the game with the other character. In other words, to play Claire's 2nd Run, you must first complete a New Game with Leon, and vice versa.
  • For the most part, the game is almost identical, although some areas are different.
  • The solutions to the main puzzles are different.
  • The locker and safe combinations remain the same.
  • Some key items are found in different locations.
  • Near the beginning, when you go to pick up the Courtyard Key, you can also get the M19/Quickdraw Army. These handguns can easily take the place of the shotgun or grenade launcher thanks to their high damage and superior range, although you lose the grenade launcher's area of effect.
  • All regular handgun ammo found throughout the game is replaced with Large-Caliber Handgun Ammo for the M19/Quickdraw Army.
  • The only way to obtain ammo for your regular handgun is by combining containers of standard Gunpowder.

We can't stress this enough: ALL THE "MAIN" PUZZLES ARE DIFFERENT. Although we'll point out the changes in each section of this guide, you can also find all the solutions at the link above.

Police Station in 2nd Run

The game begins in the Police Station grounds. Keep going until you find the Bolt Cutter, then use it on the door you passed after heading down the stairs beneath the Police Station's main entrance. Inside, you'll find the M19 and the Courtyard Key, which opens the locked door by the emergency exit and gives you access to the east wing of the Police Station.

Objectives and differences

From this point onward, your objectives are essentially the same as in Find the 3 Medallions, with a few differences:

  • The metal shutter on the first floor of the east wing is already open. The fuse you need to reach the Main Hall can be found in the Break Room.
  • There is a Hip Pouch in the Main Hall instead of the West Storage Room on the third floor.
  • The Main Hall is no longer a safe area.
  • The first Licker appears in the first-floor west hallway, just like in the original game.
  • The box containing the S.T.A.R.S. Badge is on the second floor, inside the Shower Room. This allows you to get the Lightning Hawk or MQ 11 much earlier instead of having to wait until later, as well as unlock the special weapons case as soon as you climb down through the Goddess Statue passage.
  • Inside the S.T.A.R.S. Office, next to the storage room door, you'll find a Note from Leon/Claire.
  • The Tyrant will appear as soon as you leave the S.T.A.R.S. Office with the Battery.
  • After heading down through the tunnel beneath the Goddess Statue, the game proceeds in the same way as in Find a Way Out.

Different puzzle solutions

The solutions to the Police Station puzzles in 2nd Run are as follows:

Different puzzle solutions

The following link explains the differences between the sewer puzzles in Route B in detail:

  • Chess Plug puzzle: place the King, Bishop and Queen on the left wall, starting from the far end, and the Knight, Rook and Pawn on the right wall, again starting from the far end.
  • Sewers electrical panel: the solution is random.

Laboratory in 2nd Run

Objectives and differences

The Laboratory doesn't contain much new either, although there are a couple of differences:

You'll find the Signal Modulator immediately after leaving Reception, before activating the bridge for the first time, next to the U.S.S. soldier's body.
When playing as Leon, the Tyrant appears when you pick up the chip in the Greenhouse.

Different puzzle solutions

Both the Greenhouse puzzle and Solution Dispenser puzzle have different solutions in 2nd Run or Route B.

The ending in 2nd Run

You'll find the biggest difference at the very end of the game, when you must fight one final boss aboard the train. There isn't much advice to give here: the area is extremely narrow, there's nowhere to move and the enemy essentially does nothing but crawl toward you and try to crush you.

Unload everything you've got into it, starting with your most powerful weapons, to finish it off and unlock the game's true ending.
