"I’m going to take you back to your boyfriend..." Katherine Warren placed her complete trust in Irons’s words. He was a perfect gentleman as well as the chief of police, not to mention a good friend of her father, the mayor. However, once he brought her to the Orphanage, his mask slipped: "You know, I have a feeling you’re going to be my masterpiece." Katherine’s heart sank when she heard those words. But fate was on her side. She took the keys to the cell from her would-be killer and made up her mind: "I have to escape. I have to rescue my love, Ben..."

The Ghost Survivors reveals more about the story of the mayor’s daughter. You know, the young woman you find at the Orphanage under... less-than-ideal circumstances.

When playing as Katherine, the special enemies are Pale Heads. These are a unique type of zombie that cannot be killed by conventional means.

Resident Evil 2 Remake - Pale Head

There are only three ways to get rid of them:

  • Fire a High-Powered Round at the head to kill it instantly—most of the time.
  • Fire a High-Powered Round into its body to stun it for a few seconds, giving you just enough time to get past.
  • Stab it to death. Your knife has unlimited durability, so if you can isolate one of these bastards, cut off its legs and keep slashing it once it falls to the ground until it stops moving. Watch out for any nearby enemies.

The first two methods require High-Powered Rounds. Remember that you can switch between ammunition types using the shoulder buttons—R1 on PS4. Do not waste regular ammunition on Pale Heads or special ammunition on ordinary zombies.

How to Complete the Runaway Scenario

Katherine’s objective is to travel from the Orphanage to the jail cell where Ben is being held. In theory, it is a simple journey: all you need to do is cross the street through the Basketball Court, follow the walkway to the Parking Garage, and make your way along the jail corridor. Right?

Not quite, because the main problem is that you need a series of keys to open locked doors. These are always carried by zombies wearing backpacks, and your only additional supplies come from vending machines.

The two key targets are the backpack-carrying Pale Head near the Parking Garage exit and the backpack zombie inside the Parking Garage. The extra key allows you to open an alternative—and much easier—route to Ben’s cell.

Once again, the best thing we can do is show you this excellent run by Where’s Barry. Remember that this is a no-damage run, so completing the scenario is easier than he makes it look if that is not your goal.

Katherine’s inventory consists of:

  • SLS 60, modified to fire High-Powered Rounds
  • Combat Knife with unlimited durability
  • Handgun Ammo x30
  • Red Herb
