Find the 3 Medallions in Resident Evil 2 Remake (Leon and Claire)

Everything you need to complete the Find the 3 Medallions main objective in Resident Evil 2 Remake: key items, enemies, tips, puzzle solutions, and more.

Once you've finished exploring the police station, the game really begins. Things are about to get a little tougher, so we'll make it easier by breaking down each of the game's main objectives into several steps.

Get the Lion Medallion

This first part doesn't need much explanation. Simply head up the stairs to find a lion statue. When you approach it, you'll see that you can interact with it.

You need to enter the symbols shown in the notebook. For the lion statue, the combination is lion, branch, bird. Once you've entered them, you'll receive the Lion Medallion, which you can place straight into the statue next to Marvin. That way, it won't take up any inventory space.

Reach the Safety Deposit Room

Now that you have the knife, you can cut open the box covered in tape beside the west door. This will let you raise the metal shutter and continue. Pick up the Handgun Ammo from the bench and keep going.

Follow the corridors until you see a zombie at a window. Shortly after you walk past, it will break through. Take it down and enter the Operations Room. You'll find the Record of Events document in the southwest corner. The Police Station Map (1F) is also hanging on the board. It will come in very handy for finding your way around.

Resident Evil 2 - Find the 3 Medallions: Police Station Map

Once you have it, head to the southeast side of the room, climb over the boxes and you'll emerge into a corridor with a zombie banging on a vending machine. Kill it and go through the door to the north, which leads into the Safety Deposit Room.

You can't complete this puzzle yet. For now, simply enter the following numbers on the keypad and press ENTER to open the lockers and collect:

  • 106: Film Roll
  • 109: Handgun Ammo

You'll find the Storage Locker Terminal Memo on the table opposite the keypad. Remember this place. We'll come back later once we have the missing keys.

Find the Spare Key and Spade Key

Open the map and look at the corridor leading east, where you'll see a room called the "Darkroom." Head over there, watching out for the zombie by the window. Near the entrance to the Darkroom you'll find some Wooden Boards. We recommend using them to barricade the window, as you'll pass through this area several times and don't want anything crawling in.

Now enter the Darkroom, which is a safe room. You can pick up the Benefits of Herbs document from the table, as well as some Handgun Ammo and Gunpowder from the lockers. Head to the back of the room without pressing the button. You can develop the film roll you collected earlier to obtain the Commemorative Photo.

Resident Evil 2 - Find the 3 Medallions: Darkroom entrance

There's also a Red Herb, which you can combine with the Green Herb near the Darkroom entrance. Now leave the room and head up to 2F, watching out for the two zombies. Be careful: the one slumped against the wall has some Handgun Ammo, but it will get up when you approach.

Continue to the end of the corridor on 2F and enter the Shower Room. In one of the corners you'll find the Portable Safe Instructions note and a Portable Safe, which you'll need to examine. This is a puzzle with a randomized solution. Inside you'll find one of the Spare Keys.

Resident Evil 2 - Find the 3 Medallions: Spare Key

In the lockers on the left you'll find Flame Rounds/Shotgun Shells, along with another locker secured with a letter lock—the combination is CAP. Inside you'll find more Flame Rounds/Shotgun Shells.

Before going up to the third floor, we recommend returning to the Safety Deposit Room and placing the Spare Key in the number 2 slot. You can now enter the following codes:

  • 102: Gunpowder (combine it with the Gunpowder you already have to make Handgun Ammo).
  • 208: Flame Rounds/Shotgun Shells.

Now head up to 3F using the same staircase. When you reach the landing, you can pick up some Handgun Ammo. Before squeezing through the hole in the wall, notice that there's a locked locker at the far end.

The combination is DCM, and you'll find Submachine Gun Ammo/MAG Ammo inside. Now go through the hole in the wall and pick up the Spade Key from the table.

Reach the Library and get the Unicorn Medallion

Go through the door to the left of the key you just collected. Head to the end of the corridor—don't panic—and pick up the To Any Survivors note. Then go through the door halfway along the corridor.

First, head to the southeast corner of the room to collect your first Hip Pouch, which adds two slots to your inventory.

Resident Evil 2 - Find the 3 Medallions: Hip Pouch

Next to it you'll find the Some Guy's Scribblings note. There are some explosives in one corner—remember them—as well as Handgun Ammo against the west wall and some Wooden Boards and Gunpowder near the entrance. We recommend taking only the boards for now.

Leave through the east door to reach the Library. The area is crawling with zombies, so it's a good idea to clear them out. Stand at the top of the staircase in the southeast corner and shoot them as they come up, taking them out one by one.

Resident Evil 2 - Find the 3 Medallions: eliminate the zombies in the Library

Once they're dealt with, you can collect a Combat Knife from the body opposite the stairs you just came down, in case yours has broken. Now approach the east door and pick up the Red Book from the table, but don't open the door. Take the south exit instead.

In this room you'll find the Police Station Upper Floors Map and some Gunpowder, but more importantly, you'll discover the Unicorn Statue and another puzzle to solve.

Resident Evil 2 - Find the 3 Medallions: Unicorn Statue puzzle solution

You'll receive the Unicorn Medallion. Return to the Library and leave through the east door using the Spade Key. This will take you back to the Main Hall, where you can talk to Marvin and place the medallion in the statue.

West Office and second floor

With the Spade Key in your possession, you can enter the West Office on the ground floor of the police station. Start there to pick up some very useful optional items.

On a cabinet near the stairs you'll find the Rookie's First Assignment document. On the nearby desk you'll see two combination locks, one on each side. If you don't want to figure them out yourself, enter NED on the left and MRG on the right. You'll receive the Speed Loader/High-Capacity Mag., which you can combine with your handgun to reload it faster.

On the desk at the other end you'll find the Gunpowder Uses document and a container of Gunpowder. There's some Handgun Ammo in a locker farther back. Now enter the small office to the south to find a safe.

Resident Evil 2 - Find the 3 Medallions: safe

The safe combination is left 9, right 15, left 7. Inside you'll find another Hip Pouch. As you leave the office, you'll see the Operation Report document on the desk opposite the door.

Return to the Main Hall, head upstairs and go east toward the Waiting Room. Inside you'll find a herb, the Guide Pamphlet document and another safe behind the counter (left 6, right 2, left 11). Inside you'll find a Muzzle Brake (Matilda)/High-Capacity Mag. (JMB Hp3, which you don't have yet).

Open the door and you can now discard the Spade Key. Once you're out in the corridor, head north, pick up the Wooden Boards and enter the Art Room. Inside you'll find a Weapons Locker Key Card.

Resident Evil 2 - Find the 3 Medallions: Weapons Locker Key Card location

On the chair next to the card you'll find the Art Article: "The Red Stone" document. Head to the back of the room and pick up the Statue's Left Arm beside the statue. Open your inventory and combine it with the Red Book to create the Left Arm with Book, then place it on the statue in the same room. You'll receive the Scepter. Examine it until you find a button and obtain the Red Jewel.

Before continuing, we're going to take a quick detour to pick up something extremely useful. With the key card you just found, return to the ground floor and head to the Safety Deposit Room. At the back of the room you'll see a locker behind a locked metal grate. Use the key card to obtain the GM 79 Grenade Launcher / W-870 Shotgun, along with more Flame Rounds/Shotgun Shells.

Return to the second floor, go right and pass through the door marked EXIT to trigger a cutscene. Pick up the Cutting Tool from the trash can and the Handgun Ammo before continuing.

Resident Evil 2 - Find the 3 Medallions: Cutting Tool

Ground floor, east side

Now that you have the Cutting Tool, you can cut through the chains on the nearby door. This takes you back to the ground floor area you left at the beginning. Run straight ahead and barricade the window on the left with Wooden Boards to stop more monsters from getting inside.

Resident Evil 2 - Find the 3 Medallions: barricade the window

Now that you've secured this small area, use the Cutting Tool on the door beside the window to enter the East Office. There's a zombie inside, and you'll also need to watch the window on the left. You'll find some Gunpowder on the right-hand side, near the zombie.

On the left, close to the window the zombie is banging against, you'll find a Flash Grenade. There are two items in the office at the back: High-Grade Gunpowder (White/Yellow) and a Round Handle, which you'll need very soon.

Now move the chair blocking the door and back away, as several zombies will come through. Take them out, pick up the Fuse from the table opposite the door and place it in the electrical panel outside to open a shortcut back to the Main Hall. Before continuing, there's a small room to the north, to the left of the Press Room, where you'll find some ammo and Wooden Boards.

Using the Round Handle

With the Round Handle, return to the Shower Room on the west side of the second floor. Use the handle to shut off the steam so you can get through.

Resident Evil 2 - Find the 3 Medallions: use the Round Handle to shut off the steam

There's a container of Gunpowder in the locker on the other side, which we've left there for now. When you step out into the corridor, DON'T MOVE, DON'T RUN—LOOK UP AT THE CEILING AT THE FAR END.

Resident Evil 2 - Find the 3 Medallions: the first Licker

That thing is a Licker. They're blind but extremely sensitive to noise, so even if you don't run, it will hear you as soon as you step into the puddles. Pull out the grenade launcher and, for the love of everything, get rid of it. There are some Flame Rounds/Shotgun Shells to your left if you need them.

Before continuing, head to the end of the corridor and open the shortcut to the Library. Now enter the S.T.A.R.S. Office, the only door you can open in the corridor. Inside you'll find Flame Rounds/Shotgun Shells, a Flash Grenade, High-Grade Gunpowder (White/Yellow), a Red Herb and a First Aid Spray.

In the small office on the right you'll find a Battery and the Internal Memo. Now inspect the computer beside the locked armory. You can't do anything with it yet, but remember where it is.

Resident Evil 2 - Find the 3 Medallions: computer in the S.T.A.R.S. Office

Return to the west wing

Your next destination is the Operations Room on the ground floor of the west wing. If you remember, there was a locked door in the southwest corner that you can now open with the Cutting Tool. Inside this room you'll find an Electronic Gadget. It's actually a detonator, and you need to combine it with the Battery.

You'll also find a Green Herb, a Flash Grenade and some Wooden Boards in this room. Now it's time to return to the West Storage Room on the third floor and use the detonator on the explosives.

Once you've detonated the explosives, you'll open a path to the final statue. The combination is woman, bow and snake. The symbols are badly worn, so use this image as a guide.

Resident Evil 2 - Find the 3 Medallions/Claire - Maiden Statue solution

Solving the puzzle rewards you with the Maiden Medallion. There's no way you missed that noise: there's a Licker nearby and the door to the Library is blocked. It's up to you how to handle it. We walked slowly, avoided the zombie and left the same way we came in.

Return to the Main Hall and place the medallion in the statue. After the cutscene, you'll unlock the Path to the Goddess Achievement/Trophy, and it's time to find a way out.
