We show you how to solve the tube puzzle in Resident Evil 2 Remake’s Drug Testing Lab to create the herbicide in both New Game and 2nd Run.
In the Drug Testing Lab, after solving the previous puzzle, you’ll need to create the herbicide by inserting the empty cartridge you picked up in the Greenhouse Control Room. Now you have to mix the liquids to create the herbicide.
This is a classic liquid-transfer puzzle, and it works in a very simple way:
- The liquid in the center tube is poured into the tube on the left.
- Each tube has a clearly marked fill limit.
- When the tube on the left can’t hold any more liquid, whatever is left stays in the center tube.
New Game Solution
As soon as you start, press the colored buttons in the following order:
- Red
- Green
- Blue
- Red
- Green
- Blue
- Red
- Green
If you follow these 8 steps correctly, you’ll also unlock the Record: Chemist.
If you’ve already pressed any of the buttons, the solution above won’t work, but don’t worry. Here’s what you need to do:
- Fill the tube with the largest capacity.
- Fill the medium-capacity tube using the largest-capacity tube (some liquid will remain in the largest-capacity tube).
- Fill the smallest-capacity tube using the medium-capacity tube (some liquid will remain in the medium-capacity tube, while the smallest-capacity tube will be full).
- Fill the largest-capacity tube using the smallest-capacity tube.
2nd Run (Route B) Solution
As soon as you reach the machine, without touching anything, press the buttons in the following order:
- Blue
- Red
- Green
- Blue
- Red
- Green
- Blue
- Red
- Green
Just like with the previous solution, if you’ve already started moving the tubes, this sequence won’t work. In that case, follow these steps:
- Fill the medium-capacity tube using the largest-capacity tube. The medium-capacity tube will be full, while the largest-capacity tube will be empty.
- Fill the smallest-capacity tube using the medium-capacity tube. Some liquid will remain in the medium-capacity tube.
- Fill the largest-capacity tube using the smallest-capacity tube.
- Fill the smallest-capacity tube using the medium-capacity tube again. Some liquid will remain in the medium-capacity tube.
- Fill the largest-capacity tube using the smallest-capacity tube.
