Welcome to our complete guide to Resident Evil 2 Remake. The first of Capcom’s modern remakes brings us back to the Raccoon City incident, after the T-Virus escaped from the mansion in the Arklay Mountains. Throughout this guide, we’ll help you complete the story with Leon and Claire, which features a number of differences depending on your character and route. Here you’ll find puzzle solutions and weapon and key locations, as well as tips, secrets, and much more.
Resident Evil 2 Remake retells one of the best-known stories in video game history: the T-Virus outbreak on the streets of Raccoon City, the first major zombie virus outbreak caused by Umbrella. The story features two main characters. First up is Leon S. Kennedy, a young officer about to begin his career with the Raccoon City Police Department... who survives because he arrives late for reasons that are never entirely clear (a breakup, a hangover...). Then there’s Claire Redfield, the sister of Chris, one of the main characters from the original Resident Evil.
The game features the same Scenario A and Scenario B setup as the original. During your first playthrough, you’ll complete Scenario A regardless of which character you choose. After finishing the game, you’ll play through Scenario B with the other character. There are differences depending on the character you choose and which of the two scenarios you complete.
The game features a huge number of puzzles and brainteasers, as well as doors locked with keys. These range from doors you must open to progress through the story to optional lockers, other containers, and safes hiding valuable weapon upgrades. Here you’ll find solutions to every mandatory and optional puzzle, along with key item locations and uses, safe combinations, and much more. Remember that some puzzles have different solutions depending on whether you’re playing Scenario A or B.
To help you take on the zombies, we’ll show you where to find every weapon in the game. Nobody survives a zombie apocalypse by duct-taping random objects together (except Frank West), so it’s worth learning about everything from knives to rocket launchers, including shotguns and submachine guns. Many of these weapons can also be modified with upgrades.
And, as fans of the series will know, we’ll also cover the classic infinite-ammo weapons, which let you unleash complete havoc on the monsters standing in your way.
As you might expect, you’ll find plenty of collectibles throughout the game. Some provide more information about the events of the story, while others unlock various rewards. Hip Pouches increase the size of your inventory, meaning they also have a direct impact on gameplay.
To make sure you don’t miss any of them, we’ve included guides with videos and images showing the exact location of every collectible:
