Resident Evil 2 Remake: How to Get Every Key – LOCATIONS

In this section, bear in mind that we only show you where to find each key and which doors they unlock. If you’re looking for a key item and want to know what it’s used for, check out our Key Items: Locations and Uses section.

Storage Room Key

You’ll get this during the Prologue at the gas station, just after killing the first zombie. You can’t leave the room without it. It’s used to unlock the door in that same room.

Spade Key (blue)

You’ll find it on the third floor after taking the stairs up from the West Hallway, just beyond the hole in the wall. You’ll collect it during Find the Spare Key and the Spade Key.

It unlocks the following rooms:

• Library (second floor, west side).
• West Office (ground floor).
• Waiting Room (second floor, east side).

Diamond Key (pink)

You’ll find it while completing Head to the Police Station. It’s inside the Morgue in the basement, in the second body drawer from the left on the north side of the room. Be careful, as two zombies will attack you when you pick it up.

It unlocks the following rooms:

• Firing Range (Parking Garage).
• Elevator Controls Room (Parking Garage, Claire only).
• Linen Room (second floor, west wing, in the hallway outside the S.T.A.R.S. Office).

Heart Key (red) - Claire only

After taking the elevator up from the Parking Garage during Police Station Second Floor, head to the Private Collection Room, south of the Chief’s Office. You’ll find an item at the back of the room, next to an owl. Examine the relief, turn it over and you’ll find the key.

It unlocks the following rooms:

• Records Room (west wing, ground floor, north door).
• Interrogation Room (east wing, ground floor; it can only be reached from the stairs next to the Chief’s Office).
• Chief’s Office (you must unlock this door to progress).
• East Storage Room (south door).

Club Key (green) - Leon only

Once you enter the Boiler Room while exploring the East Area, Ground Floor, you’ll find it attached to the whiteboard at the back.

It unlocks the following rooms:

• Observation Room (east wing, ground floor; it can only be reached from the stairs next to the Chief’s Office).
• Records Room (west entrance).

Sewers Key

You need to reach the Upper Waterway by heading south along the walkway where the Rook Plug is found, then use the T-Bar Valve Handle on the platform to the west. You’ll find the key after heading down the stairs.

It unlocks the following rooms:

• Workers’ Break Room (on the bridge where the Rook Plug is found, Lower Waterway).
• Water Injection Chamber (on the bridge where the Rook Plug is found, Lower Waterway).

Courtyard Key

Only available in 2nd Run.

It’s behind the locked door that requires the Bolt Cutters, on the stairs beneath the Main Entrance.

• Used to unlock: the locked Courtyard door.
