Windswept Kennin-ji is the ninth chapter of the story in Onimusha: Way of the Sword. It begins at the end of Patching up the Pouch, after obtaining the Hozuki Pouch: Default. As usual, throughout this spoiler-free walkthrough we'll help you complete every story chapter 100%, making sure you don't miss anything along the way and providing tips for the more difficult situations.
For obvious reasons, we're not heading straight to the objective. Instead, we're going to collect a few Hozuki Pouches that have now become available around the map. Start by traveling to the Gojo Street - East Spirit Mirror in the southeastern fields. Remember the Treasure icon in the middle of the fields? You can now approach it from the west and open the gate to the compound where it's located.
The chest is inside the building and is easy to reach. It contains Tamahagane. After that, head directly east. There was a compound here during the previous mission that was locked; you'll now find it open and full of enemies.
Once they're defeated, destroy the northern Malice Barrier. There are more enemies in this compound and, beside the northern fence, a chest containing a Whetstone and Hempen Cloth. Go behind the northern fence and you'll find a slope leading to an opening in the eastern fence.
More enemies are waiting on the other side, along with the next Treasure. It contains more Tamahagane.
In the southern corner of this courtyard, you'll find another chest. This one contains Iron.
In the northeastern corner, there's another Malice Barrier. Destroy it to reveal a ladder leading up to the rooftops. Cross the bridge to reach the enclosed southeastern compound we saw earlier, where you'll find an Oni Glyph that rewards you with Oni Cloth (Regeneration).
Right next to it is the next Treasure, which contains a Skeleton Hozuki. Destroy the Malice Barrier and return to Okuni to craft the Hozuki Pouch: Regeneration.
You can't craft any more Pouches yet, as the necessary materials are still out of reach. Consider buying enhancement materials from Yorimasa's Monument. They only cost souls, and you probably have plenty to spare by now. This is completely optional, and we won't be doing it ourselves; your equipment should already be fairly well enhanced after the previous chapter.
To continue, approach the objective marker from the south. The temple gate will be open this time, allowing you to enter.
As soon as you enter the compound, head to the southwestern corner to find a chest. It contains Cotton Cloth.
Now go around the building from the west, defeat the enemies and continue until you find another barrier created by Weavers. There are two of them. The first is in the northeastern corner, and you'll need to use the Oni Bow to kill it. Next, head to the northwestern corner of the compound. You'll see a small building there. Go around it to find a Treasure chest containing Tamahagane, while inside the building there's a chest containing Tempered Iron.
Now, beside the temple facade, close to the entrance of the small building containing the chest, you'll see a bridge that you can cross to reach the second Weaver. You passed underneath this bridge on your way to the items above, so it's hard to miss. Step onto the raised section beside the temple facade and cross it.
You can now head to the temple entrance and face the very obvious boss waiting for you. It's time to give Ifuu, Fearsome Gale — pompadour and all — the beating he's been asking for.
After the fight, you'll complete the chapter and move on to An Immortal Talent.
