Among the different pieces of equipment you can obtain in Onimusha: Way of the Sword are the Oni Armaments. Unlike in previous games, these aren't weapons you wield directly, but instead powerful special attacks at your disposal. Using them consumes the Oni Power Gauge, and each Armament works differently. Most Oni Armaments can be missed, so you'll need to pay close attention to their locations. Don't forget that these weapons are upgraded through Oni Armament skills rather than the general enhancements.
The Oni Power Gauge can be increased by upgrading the Gauntlet, rather than by using Magic Jewels as in previous games.
One of the Oni Armaments. Unleashes a flurry of deadly attacks with a pair of blades. Striking enemies causes yellow souls to appear.
You'll obtain this pair of Oni blades from the first Treasure chest. When you use its special attack, each hit generates yellow souls that you can absorb to recover health.
A powerful bow crafted by the Oni. Blessed with an endless supply of arrows, it can be summoned at will.
You'll obtain this bow from the first chest in the Oni Refuge. Unlike the other Oni Armaments, the bow doesn't consume Oni Power when used. You can charge your shots to fire more powerful arrows, and it can also be used to break certain seals from a distance. Very useful.
A double-bladed naginata forged by Oni artisans. Creates whirlwinds that attack nearby enemies.
You'll obtain this naginata during The Oni's Apprentice as part of the story. Not only can it unleash wide-area attacks around you, but activating it near torches or open flames will ignite the whirlwind, creating a deadly fiery area attack.
A pair of hammers created by the Oni. They greatly deplete enemy stamina. Charge them to increase their power.
You'll find these hammers in the chest by the fan mechanism in the Underground Laboratory, during What Lurks in the Shadows. This Armament can make boss fights considerably easier, as it can destroy armor and drain around half of an enemy's Stamina Gauge with a single hit.
One of the Oni Armaments. Creates a ring of light with the Firebird Flute. Press the Skill button to launch flaming birds that burn and stagger enemies.
You'll find this unusual Armament in Treasure #45 in Eastern Kyoto. When you activate it, a ring appears behind Musashi, along with several orbs above the Oni Power Gauge. These orbs represent the projectiles you can launch by pressing the Skill button again.
A lightning spear created by the Oni. Deals massive damage and extracts large numbers of red souls from defeated enemies.
You can obtain this spear from Treasure #4 on Mount Oe, inside the cave along a side path near the route leading to the Castle Courtyard.
A sword passed down from Oni to Oni. Its powerful strikes extract purple souls from enemies.
The final Oni Armament can be found in Treasure #5 in Arashiyama, inside the cave in the northeastern corner of the swamp. You'll need to pass through a cloud of miasma to reach the chest.
