To unlock all the enhancements and abilities in Onimusha: Way of the Sword, you're going to need a huge amount of materials. These materials can be obtained in several different ways, primarily from chests scattered throughout the different areas. As part of our story walkthrough, we show you the locations of every material chest we've found the first time we visit each area, but we'll also provide the specific locations for each material in their respective sections.
These are all the different types of materials in the game, the locations where we've found them and whether or not you can buy them. Keep in mind that a regular Hozuki isn't actually a material, but a consumable, even though it appears in the game's material list.
The first time you visit an area, yes. In fact, our guide only covers the original locations of these chests and their initial contents. As you progress through the game, additional material chests can appear, but on your first visit to each area, the same chests will always be found in the same locations with the same contents.
Some do, but not all of them. In our experience, a number of material chests refill after enough time has passed or after progressing further through the story. Their new contents may be different from what they contained the first time.
Yes. As you progress through the story, you'll be able to buy certain materials, although not all of them, from Yorimasa's Monument, north of Rokudo-chinnoji Temple.
Yorimasa's stock changes and is replenished as you progress through the story, although the number of each item available for purchase remains limited. You can check whether a particular material can be bought from Yorimasa's Monument in the individual section for that material.
