Although Onimusha: Way of the Sword doesn't feature armor and gives you only one main weapon, you can still enhance three specific pieces of equipment to improve Musashi's overall stats. Here we'll explain how equipment enhancements work and what each one does.
Equipment enhancements become available during The Oni's Apprentice. During this mission you'll receive a tutorial explaining the system, after which you'll be able to enhance equipment from the Enhance Equipment/Abilities menu at any Spirit Mirror.
Enhancements require materials, and each equipment category has five Proficiency Levels. Once you've fully upgraded a piece of equipment at its current Proficiency Level, you'll be able to move on to the next one and further improve its stats.
Clothing enhancements increase your health and stamina. They require the following materials:
Sword enhancements increase the overall power of your attacks, including regular sword attacks, Issen and Oni Armaments. They require the following materials:
Gauntlet enhancements increase your maximum Oni Power and improve the speed and range of Soul Absorption. They require the following materials:
