Throughout the story of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, you'll face a good number of bosses that must be defeated in order to progress. In this section of our guide, we'll give you some tips for taking on Rasho-gan, Wish Warper. You'll encounter this Genma near the end of Careful What You Wish For.
The first thing you should do is cut the tentacle connecting Rasho-gan to the altar where he was lying. Doing so will weaken him slightly. After that, try to stay close and bait his sword attacks. They're relatively slow, making them fairly easy to Parry as you gradually deplete his Stamina Gauge. Throughout the fight, be careful if a Parry leaves you behind him, as he'll immediately attack backwards. His most dangerous sword attack begins when he raises the blade with both hands. He'll charge it for a second or two before bringing it down in a vertical slash with an awkward delay that can easily catch you off guard the first few times.
If you let him create some distance, he'll start firing projectiles. You can tell this is coming when he raises two of his arms. He fires them in volleys of four, and you can use Deflect to send them straight back at him. Be careful if he only charges a single projectile, as he'll power it up before firing and it deals considerably more damage.
Aside from that, he only has one unarmed close-range attack, a jumping strike. Be careful and don't try to block it: dodge instead. Naturally, he also has a blue grab attack that you should dodge, giving you a good opportunity to deal heavy Stamina damage in return.
The boss has a second phase in which he becomes somewhat stronger. For starters, he'll gain a powerful vertical slash that is easy to recognize and distinguish from his regular melee attacks. It's generally much easier to dodge than to Parry. If you see tentacles emerging from his back, he's about to attack you with the trees — or even a chunk of a building, because apparently subtlety isn't his strong suit. When this happens, shoot the tentacles with the Oni Bow and whatever he was about to throw will come crashing down on top of him instead.
Once the fight has progressed far enough, he'll draw a second sword and gain a new attack: a spinning charge that he can perform several times in succession. If you're willing to take the risk and manage to Parry it, he'll be knocked straight to the ground, giving you an excellent opportunity to keep attacking. Be careful, though, because the move deals considerable damage if it catches you.
