Among the different pieces of equipment you can obtain in Onimusha: Way of the Sword are Hozuki Pouches. These function as the game's rechargeable healing item for use during combat, and there are several different variants, many of which are optional rather than obtained automatically as part of the story.
Once you've obtained a Hozuki Pouch, you can enhance it by talking to Okuni at Rokudo-chinnoji Temple, your base in Kyoto. Keep in mind that you'll need materials to enhance them, just like other pieces of equipment.
You can change your Hozuki Pouch at any Spirit Mirror or by talking to Okuni. Keep in mind that you can only have one Hozuki Pouch equipped at a time.
This is the default Hozuki Pouch you start with. It can hold 4 Hozuki and restores a small amount of health.
Repaired by Okuni and given enhanced healing power. Using it restores some health.
You'll obtain this pouch as part of the story during Patching up the Pouch. By default, it can hold 5 Hozuki and restores more health than the basic pouch.
Made from crimson Oni Cloth. Using it causes health and stamina to regenerate over time. Slow, but powerful.
To obtain this pouch, follow the route leading to Treasure #22 in Eastern Kyoto. Once there, head to the northeastern corner of the courtyard, destroy the Malice Barrier and climb onto the rooftops. From there, cross the bridge and drop into an enclosed area containing an Oni Glyph, where you'll obtain the Oni Cloth (Regeneration).
Made from light blue Oni Cloth. Using it restores a fixed amount of the Oni Power Gauge and Reflex Gauge.
You'll be able to craft this pouch after obtaining the Oni Cloth (Aggressor).
Made from dark green Oni Cloth. Using it causes your health and Oni Power Gauge to regenerate over time.
You'll be able to craft this pouch after obtaining the Oni Cloth (Resistance).
Made from purple Oni Cloth. Using it restores a fixed amount of the Oni Power Gauge and Awakening Gauge.
You'll be able to craft this pouch after obtaining the Oni Cloth (Awakening) and reaching A Haunted Distraction. You can give Okuni the cloth beforehand, but she won't give you the pouch until you reach this mission.
