Among the different pieces of equipment you can obtain in Onimusha: Way of the Sword are Charms. These are accessories that provide passive bonuses, ranging from increased damage to faster recovery or charge rates for the different gauges used by special attacks. As you can imagine, different Charms can work extremely well with different playstyles depending on how you prefer to approach combat.

How to enhance Charms

To enhance Charms, you'll need to visit Enma's Hall, located at Rokudo-chinnoji Temple, your base in Kyoto. Once there, you'll need both red souls and favor to enhance your Charms. Red souls are mainly obtained by defeating enemies, while favor is earned by making offerings at Enma's Hall. There are dozens of different types of offerings, including millet, sake, prayer beads and more.

Offerings can be obtained in several ways: you can find them lying around the environment, get them by breaking pots, or receive them for rescuing people from the Genma. You'll find more than enough of them as you play, so this isn't something you need to worry too much about.

How to equip more Charms

At the beginning of the game, you'll only have one Charm slot, but you can eventually equip up to three different Charms at once. To unlock more Charm slots, you'll need to acquire the Charm Capacity 1 and Charm Capacity 2 skills. The first unlocks a second slot, while the second unlocks the third.

How to enhance Charms

You can enhance Charms at Enma's Hall in Rokudo-chinnoji Temple (Eastern Kyoto).

To enhance Charms, you'll need two different resources: red souls and favor. Red souls are obtained by defeating enemies and from soul crystals, while favor is earned by making offerings at Enma's Hall.

Charm of the Healer

Increases the amount of health restored when healing.
Level 1: Health restored +4%.
Level 2 (red souls x3,000, favor x3,500): Health restored +6%.
Level 3 (red souls x6,000, favor x6,500): Health restored +8%.

You'll obtain this Charm by completing The Stage is Set at Kiyomizu.

Sadist's Strength Charm

Increases the amount of damage dealt to enemies that are burning, ablaze, or oil-soaked.
Level 1: Damage to affected enemies +8%.
Level 2 (red souls x3,000, favor x3,500): Damage to affected enemies +11%.
Level 3 (red souls x6,000, favor x6,500): Damage to affected enemies +15%.

You'll obtain this Charm by completing Clear Space, Clear Mind.

Charm of Zeal

Increases the speed at which the Blaze Gauge fills.
Level 1: Blaze Gauge fill speed +10%.
Level 2 (red souls x3,000, favor x3,500): Blaze Gauge fill speed +15%.
Level 3 (red souls x6,000, favor x6,500): Blaze Gauge fill speed +20%.

You'll obtain this Charm by completing Chance Encounters - Pale Lights in a Night Sky.

Charm of Purification

Reduces the damage taken while affected by Malice.
Level 1: Malice damage taken -20%.
Level 2 (red souls x3,000, favor x3,500): Malice damage taken -30%.
Level 3 (red souls x6,000, favor x6,500): Malice damage taken -40%.

Reaper's Charm

Increases the amount of red souls absorbed.
Level 1: Red souls absorbed +5%.
Level 2 (red souls x3,000, favor x3,500): Red souls absorbed +10%.

Charm of Stamina

Increases the speed at which the Stamina Gauge refills.
Level 1: Stamina recovery speed +10%.
Level 2 (red souls x3,000, favor x3,500): Stamina recovery speed +15%.

Inner Strength Charm

Increases the power of Issen and Break Issen attacks.
Level 1: Issen power +5%.
Level 2 (red souls x3,000, favor x3,500): Issen power +7%.

Increases the speed at which the Reflex Gauge fills.

Charm of Enticement

Increases the likelihood of Genma encounters in Eastern Kyoto.
Level 1: Small increase to Genma encounter rate.
Level 2 (red souls x3,000, favor x3,500): Medium increase to Genma encounter rate.
Level 3 (red souls x6,000, favor x6,500): Large increase to Genma encounter rate.

Fencer's Strength Charm

Increases regular attack power.
Level 1: Normal attack power +8%.
Level 2 (red souls x3,000, favor x3,500): Normal attack power +11%.

Blazing Charm

Allows you to remain in the Blazing State for longer.

Level 1: Blazing State duration +3 seconds.
