The Way of the Sword is the twenty-third chapter of the story in Onimusha: Way of the Sword. It begins at the end of The Clash at Rendaino, after defeating Benkei for the second time. As usual, throughout this spoiler-free walkthrough we'll help you complete every story chapter 100%, making sure you don't miss anything along the way and providing tips for the more difficult situations.
In this starting area, you can enhance your Charms and Hozuki Pouches, since Rokudo-chinnoji Temple is no longer available. Activate the Rokudo-chinnoji Temple Spirit Mirror and continue north.
When you reach the upper section, take the east-southeastern branch to find a chest containing Iron.
Head back up, take the northern exit and drop through the hole. A Genma will appear, so defeat it and then destroy the Malice Barrier to continue. At the top of the next set of stairs, you'll find the Spiral Stairs 1 Spirit Mirror.
When you reach the next area, Daidara will appear again, one of the first bosses you fought. As with Benkei, there's very little new to worry about. This time he has a jumping attack that's fairly easy to avoid or block. Take him down; at this point, he shouldn't pose much of a threat. Once he's defeated, take the elevator to the southwest to continue.
Follow the Second Layer along the only available route. After defeating the first group of Genma, enter the room to the south to find a chest containing Cotton Cloth and Iron.
Continue until you reach what looks like an attic. The way forward is through the opening to the west, which leads to a bridge. However, the stairs in the northeastern corner take you back down, where you'll find a Treasure containing Fine Silk Cloth.
Head back up and cross the bridge to the west. On the next platform, take the ladder to the south to reach a chest containing Whetstone x2 and Iron.
Continue climbing toward the northwest. You'll reach the Main Entrance Spirit Mirror. It's a little strange for a castle's main entrance to be on the second floor rather than the first, but hey, we're not architects.
In the next room, a Rift will appear and a Byakue will emerge from it. Yes, you've probably worked out the pattern by now: there's going to be a returning boss at the end of each layer. Defeat it and continue.
As soon as you arrive on the Third Layer, you'll see another Treasure containing Tamahagane.
Climb the... steps, if that's what we're calling them. At the end, you'll reach the Spiral Stairs 2 Spirit Mirror.
The Third Layer is very short. There's nothing particularly interesting along the way, and at the end two Nue will appear.
You'll see the Suspended Hallway Spirit Mirror after climbing the steps from the room where you fought the Nue.
There's only one room on this layer, where you'll face a Greater Nue. Once it's defeated, continue north to an elevator.
Another fairly short layer. This time, a Rift will appear with two waves of regular Genma followed by a Dohatsu-ten in the third. Defeat it, seal the Rift and take another elevator to the north.
Continue along the corridor until you find a Treasure containing Oni Stone x2 — these should be the final ones you need to unlock every ability — and the Keep Area Spirit Mirror.
Continue until, at long last, you face Minamoto no Yoshitsune.
Once you've defeated him, you'll finish the game and return to the beginning of The Clash at Rendaino. You'll also be able to open the final Treasure in Kyoto, which contains the Genma Note: Yoshitsune.
You can also choose to start New Game+ on Carnage difficulty... if you dare.
