There's a chest containing Leather inside one of the houses west of Rokudo-chinnoji Temple. It's located near one of the Rifts you need to seal as part of the story.
There's another piece inside the storehouse of one of the houses on the eastern side of Eastern Kyoto. You can reach this house during Careful What You Wish For. You'll have to pass through its courtyard as part of the story; before then, the door will be locked.
Once you've cleared the Malice from Kyoto as part of the story, you'll find another Leather chest in a courtyard in the northeastern section of Eastern Kyoto.
There's another one very close by. It's on one of the rooftops to the west of the previous chest, which you can reach using the ladders.
In the northeastern section of the map, on one of the streets east of Higashioji Street, you'll find another chest containing more Leather.
There's another Leather chest in the watchtower in the middle of the fields in southeastern Kyoto.
When you reach Toribeno, southeast of the fields, as part of the story, you'll eventually arrive at the southeastern corner, where several thatched huts are located. The Leather chest is inside the third hut from the bottom in the southeastern section.
There's another piece inside the building along the northern edge of Toribeno. You'll pass right by it while progressing through the area.
Once you can access southwestern Kyoto after completing Toribeno, head toward the southern part of the street southwest of the Gojo Street - West Spirit Mirror. You'll find an alley packed with enemies and a storehouse with a ladder.
Climb the ladder, continue forward, climb down the next one, turn around, smash the jar and crawl through the opening to reach a room containing enemies and this chest.
Once the Malice blocking the bridge in the southwestern corner of Kyoto has disappeared, you'll be able to explore the narrow streets to the north. Look for the eastern alley to find a chest containing Leather.
From the previous chest, climb the ladder and cross east using the wall-running section on the rooftop. Once you drop into the alley, head south to find the chest beside the locked gate.
From the Shijo Street Spirit Mirror, head south and you'll find this chest inside one of the houses on the eastern side.
When heading for Oni Gate #3, you can head south from the center of the temple through a narrow alley to find a chest containing another two pieces of Leather.
Once the story allows you to head east from the Shijo Street Spirit Mirror, enter the building to the north to find another chest containing Leather.
There's one more piece in the northwestern corner of the courtyard directly east of Yasaka Shrine.
You'll find a Leather chest in the southwestern part of the southeastern section of Underground Level 3.
You'll reach this point after climbing out of the pit you drop into while progressing through the story.
You'll find a chest in the courtyard beyond the slope where enemies roll logs toward you. Look inside the building on the northeastern side of the courtyard.
You'll find a Leather chest in the final section of the Swamp, in the southernmost area. The chest is beside the Malice Barrier blocking the street ahead.
