Throughout the story of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, you'll face a good number of bosses that must be defeated in order to progress. In this section of our guide, we'll give you some tips for taking on Ifuu and Burai. You'll face them during Storm Chaser.
First of all, you should know that individually, they use exactly the same attacks as in their previous one-on-one fights. The main thing to watch for during the first phase is when both bosses retreat and prepare to unleash simultaneous horizontal slashes. If you successfully perform a regular Parry, without using Deflect, they'll end up hitting each other. If you also deplete either boss's Stamina Gauge at this moment, Musashi will perform a double Break Issen, striking both of them in a special animation.
Keep in mind that their health bars are "separate, but not really". You need to deal a certain amount of total damage before they'll advance to the next phase and eventually become vulnerable to defeat. Try to spread your damage between the two, because when they change phases, any health already lost won't be restored.
Once they enter the second phase, they'll begin using their special attacks at the same time. The good news is that you really only need to defend against one of them, as both attacks connect at roughly the same moment. These are Burai's teleporting lightning drop and Ifuu's rushing attack followed by a horizontal slash. Once again, if you manage to completely deplete a Stamina Gauge here, you'll trigger a double Break Issen.
Finally, in the third phase they gain two tandem ultimate attacks. They'll usually begin with one where both use their standard ultimate moves at once: Burai fires a directional arc of lightning before following up with his massive downward slash, while Ifuu hovers in the air with the large pack on his back. If you shoot the pack with the Oni Bow, Ifuu will crash down onto Burai, damaging them both and interrupting the attack.
Their other ultimate attack is similar to the sequence at the beginning of the fight. They'll hover together on a cloud while lightning strikes the arena. Pay close attention to the gusts of wind at the end, as they signal the finishing attack. If you successfully Parry that final strike, both bosses will crash to the ground and suffer heavy Stamina damage. By this point in the fight, one of them should go down fairly quickly, and once only one brother remains, the battle becomes much easier.
