The Abyss is the thirteenth chapter or thirteenth part of the story of Resident Evil Requiem. It begins after exploring the police station. As usual, throughout this walkthrough we will provide directions to help you complete as much of the game as possible, avoiding spoilers wherever possible while ensuring that you obtain all collectibles, receive help with puzzles and more.
Proceed forwards and you will see that you have no choice but to climb down through the opening in the centre of the entrance until you reach a hole that drops you into a tunnel. Head north until you find an airlock on the left. After passing through it, vault over the railing and cross the bridge to another tunnel beneath the adjacent building.
You will see that we are no longer in the Orphanage; that was an extremely brief visit. You are now in a subway station, where you will find a container of gunpowder beside the turnstiles. Head downstairs and use the train carriages to continue. When the situation becomes tense, shoot that thing in the "mouth" to trigger a cutscene. When you regain control of Leon, slide down the slope in front of you.
As soon as you reach the bottom, turn left and begin collecting resources from the platform and carriage as you move. You will have to change carriages a couple of times before finding a military chest containing items and a rope beside it that you must use to descend into the abyss. Follow the only available path and, after crouching to pass through a tunnel, shoot another stalk above you before it attacks. Shoot down the hanging supply crate just beyond it and you will reach a junction. Take the path on the right.
Break the crate, head down the other side of the junction and retreat when another two tentacles appear. Make sure you destroy them and take the tunnel on the left. Halfway through, complete a QTE, destroy another stalk and continue to the end of the tunnel to find a military chest containing items. Backtrack to the area where the two tentacles appeared and descend towards the northwest.
Another tentacle will attack when you enter the water. Break the crate on the right and then, as you continue along the left-hand path, watch out for the tentacle on the ground. Shoot it to make another plant appear, then destroy it. Afterwards, break another crate on the right and continue northwest.
The final two shoots are inside the tunnel: one above the Green Herb you can see on the right, and another that will attack from the left-hand side at the far end of the tunnel as you advance. If you have destroyed them all, you will unlock the Not Today, Weeds! achievement/trophy. Continue until a larger tentacle rises up. You are looking for a bud-shaped growth near its base. Shoot it from a distance with the sniper rifle until it retreats, then do the same to the one that remains on the ground.
Be extremely careful, as another two will emerge when you approach the ledge.
When you drop down, Plant 43 will awaken. Yes, it is the nastier sister of the mansion’s plant, Plant 42. Shoot its mouth whenever it opens and keep running from side to side to avoid both its sweeping tentacle attacks and its attempts to lunge at and devour you. It is a damage sponge, so you may well burn through almost all your shotgun or rifle ammunition—remove the scope from the latter. After dealing enough damage, explosive barrels will appear beside the base of the plant. Shoot them to solve the problem once and for all.
All you need to do now is activate the lever at the far end to reach ARK.
