Wrenwood Hotel is the first chapter or section of the story in Resident Evil Requiem. As usual, throughout this walkthrough we will explain how to progress while completing as much of the game's content as possible, avoiding spoilers whenever possible while ensuring that you obtain all the collectibles, receive help with puzzles and much more.
Open your inventory as soon as the game begins. You will see that you have the S&S M232 and the Research Report item. You must examine and rotate it until you can open it, obtaining the document of the same name.
Now continue along the street. You can only go straight ahead and cannot cross the road, so it is difficult to get lost. Keep an eye on the right-hand side of the street to find an information board opposite the barbershop, where you can collect the Wrenwood City Guide.
A little farther ahead, you can examine some missing-person posters on the right, although these do not count as a document. Continue along the street until a cutscene begins.
Follow the only available route through the alley, turning right at the forklift and crouching to pass beneath the partially collapsed scaffolding. From there, continue to the end, where you will see a lamp and police tape marking the way forward.
Open the door and cross the hallway using your flashlight so that you can see, because the hotel evidently failed to pay its electricity bill and the power has been cut off. You can interact with several objects in the kitchen if you wish. Afterwards, open the red door at the far end to trigger another cutscene. If you have not already done so, you will be instructed to examine the Research Report mentioned at the beginning. It is rather difficult to miss, after all.
Look towards the bar counter to find a photograph attached to it.
Turn it over while examining it to obtain the Old Key.
Do not bother trying to return the way you came, as you cannot go back and nothing will happen if you try. What you can do is head to the northwestern corner and examine the Restrooms. Something... interesting may happen here. Once you have finished admiring the filth covering the entire area, unlock the southern door in the Bar and Lounge using the Old Key. Follow another hallway until you reach Reception.
Look down at the floor ahead of you, slightly to the left, to find the Hotel Brochure, another document.
Do not go upstairs yet. Instead, walk behind the reception desk, where you can open the door to the Office.
Go around the blue desk and open the drawer to find the Closure Notice document. Immediately to its right, on the wall, you will find the Wrenwood Hotel Map. Now go upstairs to the first floor. There is a locked Emergency Exit in the southern section of the Recreation Room. On the pool table, you will find a pair of Bolt Cutters that you must collect.
Use them to open the door in the northeastern corner of the Recreation Room, then continue through it. Proceed to Room 204 and examine the photographs on the bed. A cutscene will begin and... things will happen.
Follow your companion. Simply follow their instructions, as there is nothing else you can do for the moment.
Retrace your steps and return to Reception. Look towards the western wall to see the painting from the cutscene.
Approach and interact with the cart to move it, then examine the painting. You will obtain a briefcase. Open it and examine its contents to find a notebook. Rotate it until the option to open it appears, allowing you to read Alyssa's Diary. After reading it, examine the inside of the briefcase again to find a disc. Then a few more "things" will happen. Follow the on-screen instructions to obtain the Emergency Exit Key.
Follow the on-screen prompts until you are able to move freely. Well, relatively freely. Run upstairs and open the door on your right when you reach the Recreation Room—the Emergency Exit you saw earlier. After a couple of cutscenes, it will be time to continue through the Wrenwood Streets.
