In Resident Evil Requiem, you can upgrade some of your weapons to improve their performance. Although this mechanic is not available at the beginning of the game, you will unlock it as you progress and quickly notice the difference when using upgraded weapons against enemies. This section explains how the system works and what you need to do to upgrade your weapons.
First of all, weapon upgrades are exclusive to Leon. Grace's weapons cannot be upgraded. To unlock this option, you must progress through the story until you gain access to the Supply Box. Once you have done so, simply open the Upgrades section and spend Credits on the improvements you want.
Bear in mind that upgrades do not carry over between playthroughs. Every time you begin a new game, your weapons will return to their base state.
All weapons have the same types of upgrades: a sight — a detachable scope in the case of rifles — as well as upgrades to power, stability, accuracy, magazine capacity and reload speed. Aside from sights, every weapon initially has two upgrade levels, but there is also an additional third level. To unlock it, you must find and destroy all 25 Mr. Raccoons hidden throughout the game. Once you have done so, open the Special Content section and unlock the Advanced Upgrades reward. This allows you to upgrade every attribute of compatible weapons to Level 3.
From then on, you will be able to upgrade weapons to Level 3 in any playthrough after purchasing the first two levels.
