In addition to the weapons available during your first playthrough, both Leon and Grace have access to several special weapons and, of course, infinite ammo if you meet the appropriate requirements. This section of the guide covers every special weapon, how to obtain them, their characteristics and how to unlock infinite ammo.

Leon's special weapons

First of all, you should know that in any playthrough after the first, Leon will no longer be able to collect the weapons found during the initial playthrough. Instead, you will have to purchase them from the Supply Box. This means that you will not pick up the shotgun before encountering the first Chunk or obtain the bolt-action rifle as part of the story. If you do not purchase any of the weapons from your first playthrough, you will only have the Alligator Snapper and Requiem. In addition to those weapons, Leon can obtain the following:

Matilda IMP

Resident Evil Requiem - Leon's special weapons, Matilda IMP

A true classic. Leon's handgun from Resident Evil 2 returns and can be purchased from the Supply Box. In this particular case, it is available during your first playthrough. This handgun can fire three-round bursts and can be upgraded.

Clatter Carbine

Resident Evil Requiem - Leon's special weapons, Clatter Carbine

A powerful suppressed assault rifle. Although it uses Machine Gun Ammo, it is more powerful than any of the other submachine guns, offering stopping power comparable to a handgun while retaining the advantage of automatic fire. To make it available for purchase, you must first unlock it from the Special Content menu. This weapon cannot be upgraded.

Ghost Grudge

Resident Evil Requiem - Leon's special weapons, Ghost Grudge

This revolver is more powerful than Requiem, although a fully upgraded Requiem ultimately offers better performance, as it reloads faster and deals slightly more damage once completely upgraded. Nevertheless, since the Ghost Grudge cannot be upgraded and can be obtained from the Supply Box at the beginning of subsequent playthroughs, it is an excellent option until you reach that point. It will also remain in Leon's inventory whenever Requiem is unavailable. To make it available for purchase, you must first unlock it from the Special Content menu.

RPG-7

Resident Evil Requiem - Leon's special weapons, RPG-7

The ever-reliable rocket launcher: hoist it onto your shoulder, point the end that goes boom at a problem, pull the trigger and watch the problem disappear. It cannot be upgraded, and you must unlock it from the Special Content menu before it becomes available from the Supply Box. It is worth noting that you can pick it up from Victor during the final battle and use it against his mutated form, but you will not keep it. This is why we do not count it as a first-playthrough weapon.

Deadly Edge

Although it can be obtained during your first playthrough, you will not find it until almost the end of the game. In subsequent playthroughs, you can unlock it from the Special Content menu and then purchase it from the Supply Box. It cannot be upgraded.

Redemption

This is the handgun used by You-Know-Who. It is an absolute beast that uses Rifle Ammo, although it must be reloaded after every shot. It is more of a showpiece than a practical weapon, as you have access to far deadlier options such as the Ghost Grudge. You must unlock it from the Special Content menu and, like the other post-game weapons, it cannot be upgraded.

Grace's special weapons

In Grace's case, she must obtain her first-playthrough weapons again before she can use them in a new game. However, she also has the following special weapons, which will appear in the Item Box once unlocked, with one exception:

Freya's Needle

Resident Evil Requiem - Grace's special weapons, Freya's Needle

This is a fairly powerful machine pistol, thanks more to its high rate of fire than its base damage. It uses Handgun Ammo instead of Machine Gun Ammo, as Grace can only obtain ammunition for handguns and Requiem. It can be unlocked from the Special Content menu.

Kotetsu

Resident Evil Requiem - Grace's special weapons, Kotetsu

This weapon is also unlocked from the Special Content menu and appears in the Item Box. It is a special Makeshift Knife that cannot break. You will no longer need to worry about your knife breaking when stabbing a zombie on the ground or losing it while defending yourself from an enemy grab.

R.I.P. Knife

Resident Evil Requiem - Grace's special weapons, R.I.P. Knife

This knife can be obtained from the Game Room in the Patient Center. It only appears on Madness difficulty, and you must exchange five Ancient Coins to obtain it. Several more can be found throughout the game. This knife breaks with use and allows you to extract more blood from enemies.

How to get infinite ammo

Infinite ammo can be found in the Special Content menu. There are two different types of infinite ammo:

  • Infinite ammo for firearms, including Requiem and special weapons, but not the rocket launcher.
  • Infinite ammo for the RPG-7.

Both types of infinite ammo must be unlocked separately. Once purchased, you can enable or disable infinite ammo by going to Options > Controls > Infinite Weapons.
