As with the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 4 Remake gives you the chance to earn an S+ Rank after completing the game. There are several requirements to meet and rewards to unlock, and here we'll explain everything you need to know.
001 S+ Rank on Hardcore
It cannot be earned in New Game Plus. To earn an S+ Rank, you must start a brand-new game.
You can use Extra weapons (Chicago Sweeper, Primal Knife, and Handcannon) and still earn an S+ Rank.
You can use infinite ammo for Extra weapons if you unlock it, without affecting your rank.
You can use the Chicken Hat and Ashley's Armor.
Only your completion time matters. The number of times you save—except in one specific case—the healing items you use, and the enemies you kill have no effect on your rank.
Bear in mind that if you die, selecting Continue adds time to your playthrough. To avoid this, return to the main menu and load your save from there, as loading a save from the Game Over screen counts as selecting Continue.
Some rewards do not stack. A Rank rewards do stack—for example, earning an S+ Rank on Hardcore will also unlock the Standard A Rank rewards—but this does not apply to the S+ Rank rewards for Standard or Assisted.
Once unlocked, you must purchase the rewards from Bonuses > Extra Content Shop. Depending on the reward, you'll either need to equip it from the Extras menu on the main or pause screen, or collect it from the typewriter storage.
S+ Rank on Assisted
Maximum time: 4 hours.
Reward: Fox Tail (increases melee attack damage).
S+ Rank on Standard
Maximum time: 5 hours.
Rewards: Round Glasses (A Rank or higher on Standard or above), Iron Helmet (A Rank or higher on Standard or above), Knitted Hat (A Rank or higher on Standard or above), and Deer Antlers (increase knife damage).
S+ Rank on Hardcore
Maximum time: 5 hours and 30 minutes.
Rewards: Chicken Hat (reduces damage taken), Gas Mask (enables aim assist on any difficulty; requires an A Rank or higher on Hardcore or above), and Armor (A Rank or higher on Hardcore or above).
S+ Rank on Professional
Maximum time: 5 hours and 30 minutes.
No more than 15 saves. Saving more than 15 times will prevent you from earning an S+ Rank.
Rewards: Chicago Sweeper (A Rank or higher) and Cat Ears (infinite ammo).
