Resident Evil 4 Remake features a classic health bar system that determines how many hits your character can withstand. Although you can increase your resistance with body armor, you can also increase your maximum health by using a specific item. Here, we explain how to raise your maximum health.

How to increase your maximum health

To increase your maximum health, you need a Yellow Herb. This is a relatively common item, so you will not have to search too hard to find one. They always appear in the same locations, and there are far more than you need in each playthrough to fully upgrade your health bar. You can even buy them from the Merchant, although he only has a limited number available.

To use a Yellow Herb, you must combine it with either a Green Herb or a mixture of Red and Green Herbs. You can combine it with a Red Herb, but you will not be able to use the resulting mixture until you add a Green Herb. Once you use it, your maximum health will increase permanently. Bear in mind that the maximum health level fills three quarters of the circle in the bottom-right corner of the screen, where the icon of your equipped weapon is displayed.
