Resident Evil 4 Remake New Game Plus: What it is and how it works

Resident Evil 4 Remake features the familiar New Game Plus, or NG+, mechanic. Here, we explain how it works and the limitations of this game mode.

Once you have completed the story of Resident Evil 4 Remake, you will have the option to create a completed game save file. This allows you to start the game again using that save file, giving you access to several gameplay options and advantages in New Game Plus. Here, we explain all these benefits, as well as the system's limitations.

New Game Plus

These are the features of New Game Plus mode:

  • You can change the difficulty, including Hardcore and Professional.
  • You cannot achieve an S+ rank in New Game Plus.
  • You can complete the Shooting Range challenges again and earn gold and silver tokens.
  • You can collect all the treasures again.
  • You can complete the requests again and earn spinels for doing so.
  • You retain all weapons and upgrades obtained during your previous playthrough.
  • An additional Merchant is available after leaving the first house where enemies appear. Look to the left after exiting.
