Serpent’s Maw is the seventh area we recommend completing during Act II of Hell is Us, after obtaining more information about the Keystones at the Ministry of Cultural Primacy. Although you’re completely free to search for the Lymbic Forge Keystones in any order, several collectibles can be missed once certain events are set in motion. It’s therefore best to follow a specific order so you don’t ruin that coveted 100% completion.
First of all, to reach this new area, you need the Twin-Headed Serpent key item, which is obtained after you finish exploring the National Library. Once you have it, travel to the Vyssa Hills. You’re looking for the ruined tower with a circular opening at the top, located near the statue of the weeping knight. It’s difficult to miss once you know what you’re looking for. As you approach it, you’ll see that it resembles a bell tower or some other ancient structure, with a serpent emblem inside its circular sections.
If you’ve followed the guide up to this point, you’ll have opened the shortcut and will be able to enter the tower ruins. Otherwise, you’ll need to go through the mine tunnels near the former Timeloop to reach a chest where you can use the Twin-Headed Serpent.
The chest will open, allowing you to collect the Token of the Serpent. Now head to the hill where the Timeloop was located. Remember that strange serpent-shaped rock formation and the locked door on one side of the northern area? This is where you need to use the Token of the Serpent to open the door.
After passing through the tunnel, eliminate the enemies and look for a gate with a mural of the moon above it. Immediately to the right of the gate, you’ll see the glow of the Key – Mine, which we need to continue exploring the area.
Before continuing, look northwest and head uphill until you see the entrance to a cave.
Once inside, turn left without going through the door, drop down from the broken bridge—watch out for the Guardian on the left—and head right until you see a glowing item on a platform in an area filled with weaker enemies.
Follow the tunnel on the left and keep turning right to reach the raised platform, where you’ll find the Cap – Grief.
Obviously, we need to enter the mine. The entrance you’re looking for is near the APC. Climb the ladder leading to the scaffolding along the path between the rocks, then descend another ladder into the mine.
As soon as you reach the bottom, you can open the door beside you with the key, followed by another door immediately beyond it, creating a shortcut. Follow that tunnel to another door—which is already open—and you’ll find a third door that must be opened with the key, directly opposite a ladder. Open it and continue down this path until you reach a room with a large pit, reddish lighting and several enemies.
Continue downwards to the east-southeast. Before leaving the pit behind, you should see a small space to your right containing the Lymbic Rod – Grief, V and the Note – Cryptic Maxim.
The game may tell you that you’ve discovered the Lymbic Door – Senedra Hilltop Mystery. Ignore it—we activated that Mystery several hours ago. To avoid getting lost, return to the starting point at the foot of the ladder, where you opened the first door.
This time, go through the door you opened to the right of the ladder and follow the tracks straight ahead until you see a ladder on your right, just before a tunnel blocked by rocks with sunlight streaming through.
You’ll find the Token of the Moon as soon as you reach the top. There’s a Lymbic Chest above your current position, but you can’t do anything with it yet. Open the metal door and you’ll find yourself back in the area you reached after passing through the serpent door. Head southeast to find a door where you can use the Token of the Moon to continue.
Go through the tunnel and continue uphill until you reach a slightly larger area. Head towards the Timeloop, which we’ll clear shortly, and look for a chest in a circular area containing the Token of the Palm.
Before continuing, head northeast towards the steps at the top of the area. You’ll see the glow of the Lymbic Rod – Ecstasy, Z, which activates the Lymbic Chest – Vyssa Hills Fort Mystery.
From the steps where you found the rod, look north to see the entrance to another tunnel. You can use the Token of the Palm here to open another door and continue.
You’ll enter what can only be described as a seriously creepy underground church. Collect the Letter – Land Grant from the altar to unlock the next area we need to explore. You’ll find the Clay Vase in one of the rooms at the back on the right. On the left side, you’ll find a sealed door that can be opened using the lever beside it, creating a shortcut back to the area containing the Moon Ruins.
First, you can now use the Lymbic Rod – Ecstasy, Z on the chest in the Moon Ruins. You’ll receive an Amine Prism – Zeta.
Now use the Guardian Detector to locate any remaining Guardians and then close the Timeloop – Francis’ Church. Once you’ve done so, you’ll be able to collect the Bronze Figurine from the ground. Wrap things up by speaking to Gildas about the Timeloop to claim the corresponding rewards.
Return to the APC and travel to the newly unlocked location, the Plains of Mist.
