Pathem Abbey is the fourth area we recommend completing during Act II of Hell is Us, after obtaining the Keystone of Terror in Arcas Spire. Although you’re completely free to search for the Lymbic Forge Keystones in any order, several collectibles can be missed once certain events are set in motion. It’s therefore best to follow a specific order so you don’t ruin that coveted 100% completion.
To find the entrance to the abbey, you need to travel to the Acasa Marshes and head southeast of Jova. From quite a distance, you’ll be able to see the lights of an abandoned car and a bonfire farther ahead. Head towards the burning pile of books (eventually, every religion ends up burning books—funny how that works).
Before continuing, you should know that new Timeloop Guardians have appeared in this area. Use the Guardian Detector to hunt them down and deal with that problem immediately. Once there are no more in sight—the detector will eventually point underground, which is your cue—follow the path east-southeast of the pyre. It may look familiar from several hours ago. When you reach the second burning pile of books, look to your right to see the entrance to a tunnel that was previously blocked by AAF soldiers.
Follow the only available path and defeat a Guardian. If you’ve eliminated all the others, you’ll hear the sound indicating that it was the last one. We’ll let you know when you reach the second Acasa Marshes Timeloop. Afterwards, climb the other ladder and continue until you meet Abbot Jaffer. Exhaust all his dialogue options.
Technically, we already know where to go next, but there’s still work to do in the Acasa Marshes before the area is completely cleared. Begin by looking past Abbot Jaffer to spot another two torches from the Enlightenment Mystery.
Light the torch on the right, then pull the lever beside it to open the shortcut. It’ll be very obvious that this cave contains the Pathem Abbey Timeloop.
After closing it, you’ll see that there are several items in the room. You can collect the Golden Clover, which begins The Protector Good Deed; the Terracotta Oil Lamp; and the Lymbic Rod - Terror, Z, which begins the Lymbic Chest - Acasa, Eastern Ruins Mystery. Clearly, we have some unfinished business in the marshes.
Start by heading to the north-northeastern section of the marshes, north of the hill with the stone towers and west of the ON convoy tunnel. You’ll come across some small ruins containing the Lymbic Chest opened with the Lymbic Rod - Terror, Z.
Now we need to return to Jova. More specifically, head to the well square, southwest of where you first entered the village, and take the stairs down into the tunnels.
Head northeast through the tunnel to find a locked gate and another staircase leading down. Remember where the gate is, then climb down the ladder. Follow the only available path until you find the two torches in the flooded room. Light the torch on the left and retrace your steps to find the previous door open. Inside, you’ll find a Polearm of Ecstasy, a pair of Twin Axes of Grief and the Crucible of Fire relic.
Back on the streets, head northwest and pass through the Jova Java alleyway, where you’ll usually encounter a few enemies. Head up the slope to the northwest and look behind the van with its lights on to find the village cemetery. It’s surprisingly small, considering how much death there is around here.
After passing through the broken wall beside the van, continue straight ahead to find a grave where you can place the Golden Clover. Collect the Scroll - Eulogy that appears—along with the Bloodseeker relic—to complete one of your active Good Deeds. As usual, visit Gildas to claim your rewards for completing Good Deeds and closing another Timeloop. Our next destination is the Lethe National Library.
