Lethe National Library is the fifth area we recommend completing during Act II of Hell is Us, after getting a lead from Abbot Jaffer at Pathem Abbey about the book we’re looking for. Although you’re completely free to search for the Lymbic Forge Keystones in any order, several collectibles can be missed once certain events are set in motion. It’s therefore best to follow a specific order so you don’t ruin that coveted 100% completion.
You’ll find yourself in a kind of loading dock at the library’s rear or service entrance. Start by heading to the right of the open shutter. Besides a few enemies, you’ll find a body around the corner containing the OMSIF Deployment Order – National Library and the Entropic Field – Elite drone module.
Now turn around and look south. You should see a safe sitting in the dumpster beside the security booth. Enter the code 81643 to open it. This completes one of your active Mysteries and rewards you with an Amine Prism – Rho, the Wooden Mask and the Note – Caspian’s Mask.
Climb the steps from the loading dock and enter the building. As soon as you’re inside, you’ll find the Hadean Border Map in the lower-left corner of the storage room.
Follow the path to the left to find some enemies and the Note – Critical Clue. There are several locked doors farther along this corridor, except for the one leading downstairs towards Book Restoration, as indicated by the sign. Collect the consumables and go back the way you came. Now, TECHNICALLY, you could enter the code 537734 on the door, collect everything inside the room and move on to the next section. However, there are obviously still plenty of things to do inside the building, so we recommend leaving it until the end. Return to the storage room and climb the stairs.
As soon as you reach the top of the stairs, look to the right at the junction to see the staff room. The door is locked with the code 5055, but don’t open it yet. You could use it to advance directly... but there are still things to do. Take the other path at the junction and go through the door marked Second Floor. Continue a little farther until you see the door to the Computer Room.
There are several things to find inside this room:
Now drop through the hole to reach a large archive filled with enemies that you’ll need to neutralise. Afterwards, take a good look around. You’ll find the Shriek of Terror – Enhanced Glyph, the book The Loblina Alliance, the Recording – Journalistic Integrity, the book Historical Lethe – City of Wonder and the book Lady Marguerith: Scandal and Steel. Now look for the computer in the centre of the room.
Read the only file available to begin the Suspicious Activity Mystery. Make sure you unlock every door, then leave through the one leading into the northern corridor. Head southwest and you’ll soon see some stairs leading upwards. They’ll take you to the Staff Room, where you’ll find Iblis, another important NPC. Exhaust all his dialogue options and he’ll give you the Keys – Lethe National Library.
Retrace your steps, go downstairs, turn left, continue to the end of the corridor, use your new keys, defeat the enemy, collect the Note – Keycode Reminder, keep going, unlock the door and climb the storage-room stairs. And breathe, if you read all that aloud without stopping. This time, enter the staff room using the code 5055. In one corner of the room, you’ll find the Note – Blackmailed and the Keys – Car. These are used on the blue car in the southeastern corner of the parking lot.
Opening it completes the Suspicious Activity Mystery and rewards you with both the Pottery Fragment and the Cap – Ecstasy.
Now head down to Book Restoration and enter the code 537734 on the door to open it. Inside the office, you’ll find the Gospel of Teaar, the Twin-Headed Serpent, the Recording – Restoration Notes and the Note – Favors Owed, which begins the A Way Out Good Deed.
We’ve now finished everything in the National Library. Since there are no Timeloops or Vaults here, and we haven’t completed any Good Deeds either, you can skip the usual visit to Gildas. Speak to Tania in the APC and ask her about the Symbol of the Charioteer to unlock the next region we need to visit. Ignore Jeljin for now—we need to head to the Ministry of Cultural Primacy.
