Resident Evil 3 Remake features a total of 56 files to collect and read, shedding light on the events unfolding across the city. Keep in mind that our complete guide explains how to collect every one of them as you progress. The files are listed in chronological order, so you should pick them up in exactly the order shown here as you make your way through the game.

Uptown

Guide to Uptown.

• Jill's Report: in the apartment after the nightmare. Switch on the wall light to read it among the papers pinned to the map.
• Investigation Notes: next to the previous file.
• Unsealed Envelope: to the left of the previous two files, on top of the dresser.
• Message from a Colleague: in the apartment kitchen, next to a pizza box.

Downtown

Guide to Downtown.

Redstone Street

• U.B.C.S. Ammo Crafting Guide: outside the subway car where Carlos and Mikhail are waiting, on a bench.
• Tabloid Front Page: immediately after climbing the stairs from the subway tracks, at the newsstand on the left.
• U.B.C.S. Herb Field Manual: in the safe room containing the "Monument," before heading outside.
• Drugstore Owner's Journal: in the room with the safe, up the stairs in the alley beside Moon's Donuts.
• Training Log: in the Garage, the room you reach by using the Bolt Cutters on a red door as part of the story. It is next to the body.
• U.B.C.S. Suicide Note: in the alley immediately after the Garage. Turn right at the junction and look beside the body.
• Electrician's Note: in the same alley as the previous file. Instead of turning right, turn left at the junction and you will see it posted on the brick wall.
• Your Charlie Doll: inside Toy Uncle, the blue building on the main street. You can enter through the southeast corner once you have obtained the Lock Pick.

Subway Office

• Kite Bros. Railway Manual: inside Kite Bros. Railway, in the subway control room. It is on a chair in the first room you can enter.
• Subway Employee's Memo: inside Kite Bros. Railway, in the room containing the shotgun.

Substation

• Fax from Substation Chief: in the safe room, opposite the typewriter and Item Box.
• Green Herbs: They Work!: at the bottom of the stairs leading down from the safe room, next to several herbs.
• Substation Internal Memo: beside the padlocked gate where a Deimos attacks you.
• Chad's Notes: in the switch area, after climbing the ladder leading up to the platform.

Sewers and Demolition Site

Sewers

• Sewers Map: on the whiteboard in the safe room, right at the beginning of the area.
• Increased Sewer Security: next to the locked door near the beginning of the area.
• Research Assistant's Logs: in the Office, the safe room at the end of the tunnel beyond the first Hunter Gamma.
• Invoice from Gun Shop Kendo: in the same room as the previous file.
• A Love Letter?: in the Lab, on the table next to the lockers.
• Sewer Worker's Notes: at the junction just before reaching the Lab, head north through the tunnel behind the waterfall of sewage. The file is at the far end, beside a few items.

Demolition Site

Notice of Demolition Day: next to the typewriter as you make your way up through the building using the ladders.

Redstone Street

• Raccoon Times Reader's Column: on the second floor of the house you have to pass through after the sequence at Kendo's Gun Shop. It is lying on the bed.

Police Station

Guide to the Police Station.

• Email Outbox: in the room at the bottom of the stairs outside the Police Station.
• ID Card Security Protocols: immediately after passing through the gate to the west, on one of the benches.
• Sept. 20 Arrest Report: in the West Office, on one of the desks in the middle of the room.
• Internal Memo: in the Darkroom, next to the typewriter.
• 3F Locker: in the Safety Deposit Room, on the whiteboard.
• Note to a Friend: on a bench in the second-floor Shower Room.
• Report on the Mansion Incident: in the S.T.A.R.S. Office, inside the small office next to the door.

Subway Tunnels and Clock Tower Plaza

Subway Tunnels

• U.B.C.S. New Weaponry Notice: in the safe room right at the beginning of the area, on a bench between the Mine Rounds and the First Aid Spray.

Clock Tower Plaza

• Clock Tower Brochure: as soon as you leave the tunnel, walk over to the railing beside the river and you will see two red benches. The brochure is on one of them.

Hospital

Note: These files can be collected as either Carlos or Jill.

• Spencer Memorial Pamphlet: in the Reception area where six zombies attack you, next to the padlocked door.
• Nurse's Journal: Sept. 25: in Lab Reception, next to the Tape Player.
• Nurse's Journal: Sept. 27: in the Records Room, the safe room on the upper floor. It is on a shelf to the right of the Item Box.
• Hospital Map: next to the Records Room door on the second floor.
• Note about a Tape Recording: in the second-floor Nurses' Station, behind the counter and near the safe.
• Nurse's Journal: Sept. 29: in the second-floor Staff Room, on the desk near the padlocked locker.
• Memos from Administration: in the same room as the previous file, beside the door at the far end.
• RE: Lost Items: in the Operating Room on the ground floor, behind the gurney.
• Banquet Invitation: in the locked room on the ground floor that requires the Tape Player with the Audiocassette Tape, next to the body.
• Email from Nathaniel Bard: in the same room as the previous file. Finding it is mandatory to progress through the story.

Hospital Underground

Guide to the Hospital Underground.

• Elevator Notice: in the Office safe room, right at the beginning of the area.
• Employee Memo: in the warehouse, in the eastern hallway containing three zombies, while searching for the fuses.
• Unfinished Activity Log: after riding the elevator up inside the warehouse, examine the illuminated console screen. Reading it is mandatory to progress.

NEST 2

• NEST 2 Employee Regulations: in Storage, the safe room off the first hallway.
• NEST 2 Map: obtained at the same time as the previous file.
• Isaac Graves' Diary: after climbing the stairs from the safe room, turn left and follow the passage all the way to the dead end.
• Essay on Vaccine Synthesis: in the room containing the vaccine synthesizer, on a gurney beside the machine.
• Shipping Notice: after opening the locked door in the safe-room hallway, on a table near the bottom of the stairs.
• Scientist's Dying Message: in the locked room off the safe-room hallway. Head to the far end of the ground floor and open the door. The file is on a body to your right as soon as you enter.
• Expression of Concern: in the room you reach after using the elevator in the area containing the Tyrants and Hunters. This is also where you obtain the Adjuvant Sample, so you have to pass through it as part of the story.
• Weapon Authorization Request: in the room containing the Antigen Sample, on the nearby table.
• Disposal Center: in the safe room after obtaining the Vaccine.
• Weapon Spec Sheet: in the safe room after the battle against Nemesis in NEST 2, on a shelf.
• Suspicious Contract Memo: right at the end of the game, after defeating Nemesis. Once you have climbed the ladder, look beside the door before going through it.
