Although use of the Hidden Blade is more limited in this Assassin's Creed installment, you can still perform Chain Takedowns after successfully assassinating an enemy with it. What's more, when the right conditions are met, you can chain together several takedowns against nearby enemies. Here's how it works.
One of the combat options available to you is the ability to chain together takedowns when the right conditions are met. To do this, you must first stagger more than one enemy by performing parries or forcing them to block consecutive attacks until their Defense Bars are completely drained. When this happens, they'll be vulnerable to a takedown for a few seconds. If you manage to do this while other enemies are within range, you can keep triggering the Assassinate prompt to take down several enemies in quick succession.
The maximum number of enemies you can take down in a chain is two by default. Your maximum number of Chain Takedowns is determined by your swords. One of the stats displayed for each sword is its "Maximum Takedowns" value.
This number determines the maximum number of takedowns you can chain together. The higher it is, the more enemies you can take down in a single chain.
