Among the activities available in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced are Animus Rifts, a new feature introduced in this remake. These are a series of special side missions that become available at certain points in the game after completing specific Sequences in the story. Here you'll find out where to find them, how to complete them and what rewards you'll receive.
This Rift becomes available after completing Sequence 4 of the story. To activate it, head to the island off the southern coast of Great Inagua. You'll be able to see the rocks floating in the air from a distance.
Follow the figure onto the ship's deck and use the "Resynchronize" prompt to continue. When the figure stops and mentions a treasure, pick up the chest in front of it, at the foot of the stairs. You'll now have to carry the chest to the boat at the end of the dock.
When the boat stops, you'll need to put the chest down and jump over to the wheel to open the way forward. Bear in mind that you'll gradually lose health whenever you aren't carrying the chest, so you'll need to move quickly. The process repeats later, although at the second stop you'll have to activate two wheels to clear the path and continue with the boat. The third stop is more complicated than the first two. Look to one side and you'll see a Leap of Faith silhouette at the edge of the platform.
After jumping, head straight ahead and you'll see a ramp leaning against a column. Use it to climb to the top, look to the left and you'll be able to slide down a piece of fabric to the wooden beam at the far end.
From there, you can reach the wheel and then use the lift beside it to access the zipline and return to the chest and the boat. When you reach the spike pit, jump straight ahead and keep going. When you're told to wait, don't: jump into the void from the post. You'll have to make it through a fast-moving underwater section, steering left and right to pass through the openings without taking damage.
Once you've cleared this section, continue through the cave and climb the wall at the far end to get out. Follow the route for a while until you return to the spike pit. Jump, swing across and look to the left as you land to spot a tunnel you can use to escape.
Go around the terrace to return to the pit, jump to the ledge at the far end and then leap from wall to wall as you move forward to escape the pit. You'll arrive back at the area you jumped from. Go through the door and follow the instructions to complete this Animus Rift.
This Rift becomes available after starting Sequence 8 of the story. To activate it, head to the island directly north of Nassau.
Move forward and resynchronize with the tomb, then with the character who emerges from it when the prompt appears. Continue and jump from the ship's bow. Once you're down below, you'll need to resynchronize whenever there doesn't seem to be a way forward. You'll then have to jump from ship to ship while taking out enemies before reaching another platforming section. After using the ziplines, jump onto the cannonballs when you drop down to the platform.
Continue until you jump onto a ship and encounter a special enemy. Reduce his health until a green circle appears around him, then move away to avoid taking damage. After a few more jumps and an on-rails section filled with obstacles, you'll return to the ships while dodging the enemy's cannon fire. Stay out of the green areas. Climb the rigging once you've cleared the deck, use the cannon on the adjacent ship, resynchronize at the bow of the next vessel and make your way across the rope platforms.
Once you reach the bottom, you'll face the boss again. The fight works in much the same way: avoid the green circles whenever they appear and defeat the additional pirates he summons. After defeating him, climb to the top of the mast to replace the flag. Finally, continue forward and resynchronize a couple more times to complete the Rift.
This Rift appears after completing Delirium (Sequence 11) in the story. It can be found northwest of Contoy (14,559).
In this case, you simply need to keep moving forward while taking out enemies. There isn't much else to explain, other than that if you see an enemy carrying a musket, shoot him or move closer to him to make him disappear. When you reach the end of a section where you run along ropes, don't kill the shooter before climbing the stairs, or you won't be able to continue. The final part is a relatively straightforward stealth section. Avoid the lights and move between the white flowers.
This Rift appears after completing the story and reloading your save. It can be found at 363,176, northeast of Serranilla.
This is an Animus Rift that's best left unexplained. At the end, you'll be up against a seriously tough boss... and there isn't much advice we can give you. Use everything you've learned and save your bullets for the second phase.
