Typhon, Father of All Monsters in Hades 2 is one of the main bosses you will encounter while traveling across the surface, once you have gained access to this part of the game (check out our related guide for more details) and reach his chamber at the very top of the Summit of Olympus—in other words, after defeating Polyphemus, Eris and Prometheus.
In this section of our guide, we will share the essential tips and tricks you need to defeat Typhon easily, as well as explain his main attacks and weaknesses so the battle does not give you too much trouble. Take note!
Typhon is an enormous boss whom you must defeat in a fairly small arena. Unlike the other bosses, he does not have a visible health bar. He does have health, of course, but you will not know how close he is to dying as the battle progresses. His body is also so enormous that you will only fight his head.
Below, we take you through his main attacks:
Broadly speaking, Typhon is an extremely tough boss with a huge amount of health who can deal considerable damage if you fail to dodge his strongest attacks in time. However, the fact that he remains in the same position throughout the battle makes things somewhat easier.
An effective strategy for defeating him is to spend most of the fight directly beneath his head. Many of his attacks will practically miss you automatically while you are here, although you will still need to watch out for the crushing attack he performs with his jaw and horns.
Bear in mind that roughly halfway through the battle, Zeus will appear and stun Typhon with his lightning. His tongue will then be left exposed, as shown in the image above, allowing you to attack it as quickly as possible to deal damage. Afterward, Typhon will become slightly faster and summon even stronger minor enemies. This marks what could be considered his second phase, although he does not gain any new moves.
Naturally, how much damage you deal will depend on whether your weapon has been upgraded and whether you have collected plenty of Boons by this point in your run. The good news is that you can tell when he is getting close to defeat: toward the end of the encounter, his body will be covered in wounds, his breathing will become labored and he will appear exhausted.
The battle against Typhon can be exhausting, as can the journey required to reach him. We therefore recommend obtaining as much maximum health as possible beforehand and having several Death Defiances available in case things go wrong. The key to this fight is to maintain a steady pace of attacks while dodging his most dangerous moves. This is not particularly complicated, as Typhon is slower than many of the other bosses you have already faced during the adventure.
Each time you defeat Typhon, you will receive one Void Lens as a reward. This resource is primarily used in Incantations related to calamity and madness.
