Hades 2 features a wide variety of weapons for players to enjoy while fighting their way through the Underworld and across the surface, defeating enemies and bosses along the way. Each weapon has its own unique features, and you will probably want to know how to unlock them all or be wondering which one is the best. In this section of our guide, we will introduce you to every weapon and share the most important information you need to make the most of them.
At the beginning of Hades 2, you will start the adventure with only one weapon available. However, you will soon discover that you can unlock additional weapons at the Silver Pool beside the training grounds at the Crossroads, just before heading into the Underworld on your mission. To do so, you will need various materials and resources collected during your adventures.
There are a total of six Nocturnal Arms in the game. Below, you can find their details and the requirements for unlocking each one:
Descura, also known as the Staff of Twilight, grows more powerful in darkness.
The Witch's Staff allows you to strike enemies with melee Attacks while using Specials and Omega Moves from a distance. It is a versatile and well-balanced weapon that provides good reach in close combat and the safety of ranged projectiles.
It is a very useful starting weapon, although you will probably want to replace it with something better once more options become available, as the staff eventually falls slightly behind unless its damage is considerably increased with Boons.
The Sister Blades Lim and Oros serve the Unseen and are never separated.
The Sister Blades are a pair of weapons that allow you to perform swift, furious slashing Attacks or strike from a distance by throwing a fan of knives with your Special. Their speed makes them ideal for players who enjoy attacking quickly and constantly moving around the battlefield.
As mentioned above, they also provide ranged attacks, making them an extremely versatile choice. Another great feature is that these daggers allow you to backstab enemies, dealing some additional damage in the process.
The Umbral Flames of Ygnium burn with an extraordinary light that cannot penetrate darkness.
The Umbral Flames allow you to move while performing ranged Attacks or launching Specials that orbit around you. Overall, this is a weapon focused on ranged combat, so it struggles at close range and does not initially deal much damage.
However, its constant mobility also makes it an interesting weapon for beginners, as it allows you to maintain a safe distance during many encounters or charge its Special to surround yourself with flaming projectiles. Even so, you will need to increase its damage considerably with Boons to make the most of it, which is not always possible...
Zorephet was conceived with blades broad enough to conceal the Moon itself.
The Moonstone Axe allows you to perform slow but devastating Attacks or defend yourself and retaliate using its Specials. It is by far the heaviest weapon in the game, which is noticeable with every swing, but it makes up for this with powerful area-of-effect strikes and considerable damage.
The axe can also be somewhat difficult to handle if you are not careful, as some attacks take time to execute and require precise timing to land successfully while leaving you exposed to enemies. You will therefore need to learn how to use it and master its strengths. It has enormous potential for anyone patient enough to control it.
Revaal's final honor as Judicator was to be immortalized in the hardest of metals.
The Argent Skull bombards enemies with explosive Attacks and allows you to recover its shells using powerful Specials. This is the most powerful weapon of them all, and its projectiles unquestionably deal huge amounts of damage. To balance its sheer power, however, you will need to keep track of its ammunition, as it only has three shells by default.
The Argent Skull forces you to retrieve the ammunition you have fired before you can continue attacking, which can be somewhat complicated if you are not particularly good at dodging enemies and using your Sprint. Nevertheless, its tremendous potential makes it well worth learning how to use.
Those who cloak themselves in Xinth's darkness become instruments of the Underworld's will.
The Black Coat allows you to protect yourself with a shield-like barrier and deflect attacks back at your enemies, as well as fire homing missiles.
This weapon also provides excellent mobility, as it allows you to move swiftly by flying above the arena as though you were wearing a jetpack. From its main melee Attacks to its devastating long-range Special missiles, the Black Coat is undoubtedly a versatile and well-balanced weapon suitable for almost any situation.
It is only natural to wonder whether some weapons are better or worse than others in Hades 2. Each one is obviously designed around a particular playstyle and will appeal to different kinds of players. Nevertheless, many people consider certain weapons more powerful and others less useful.
Aside from the Argent Skull, many players also consider the Sister Blades and Moonstone Axe particularly good weapons. Even the Black Coat is remarkably versatile and could easily become your favorite weapon if you enjoy its mobility and homing missiles. In any case, the Umbral Flames generally come off worst when compared with the rest of the arsenal, as their almost negligible damage arguably makes them the least useful weapon.
Whatever the case, do not hesitate to use whichever weapon feels most comfortable to you. After all, the important thing is to have fun.
