In Hades 2, there are plenty of characters you can befriend by giving them Nectar. Doing so allows you to obtain Keepsakes and unlock new features, Cauldron Incantations or Minor Prophecies, among other things. However, many players of Supergiant's game also wonder whether Melinoë can begin romantic relationships with certain gods...

The truth is that there are a small handful of characters with whom Melinoë can develop what we would consider a romance. In this section of our guide, we will explain how to unlock them, which characters can be romanced and the requirements and steps involved in each case.

Which characters can you romance, and how do you unlock their romances?

Of the dozens of characters in Hades 2 with whom Melinoë can form closer bonds, only 4 characters have romantic storylines or relationship arcs.

You can, of course, befriend and develop your relationships with many different characters, but remember that only four of them have interactions that could be considered romantic. These feature more intimate dialogue that goes a step beyond the other relationships and culminates in a special scene.

The 4 romanceable characters are:

  • Moros
  • Eris
  • Nemesis
  • Icarus

So, how do you develop these romances? First of all, it is worth mentioning that all romance options are compatible within the same playthrough. In other words, romancing Moros first does not prevent you from later romancing any of the other three characters, and vice versa. Melinoë can pursue all four romances without any problems in a single playthrough.

Naturally, to begin these romantic relationships, you must first raise your relationship level to the maximum with the characters mentioned above. As you improve your relationship by giving them Nectar, Bath Salts, Twin Lures and Ambrosia, Melinoë's bond with each character will gradually grow. However, with these four characters in particular, you will notice that once you reach a certain point in the relationship, a special icon appears in their entry in the Book of Shadows, like the one shown below:

Hades 2 - Icon indicating a potential romantic relationship with a character

This icon resembles an arrow with a heart-shaped tip, indicating that from this point onwards, the interactions Melinoë can unlock by giving this character gifts will lead towards their special romance scene.

Finally, after completing every relationship level with one of these four characters, you will have an opportunity to complete their romance through a special romantic event or scene. However, each scene will only occur once you meet the unique requirements associated with that character, as we explain below.

How do you romance Moros?

Hades 2 - How to romance Moros

Moros begins appearing at the Crossroads, right beside the Fated List, after you perform the Cauldron Incantation called "Fated Intervention".

After raising your relationship with Moros to the maximum and forging your bond, all you need to do for the opportunity to see his special romantic scene is die during any run, either in the Underworld or on the surface.

After you die, Moros will appear before Melinoë just as he did when they first met, and you will be given the option to begin a romance with him. There are no other special requirements.

How do you romance Eris?

Despite what her troublesome personality might suggest, Melinoë can develop a rather unusual romance with Eris, Strife Incarnate. Eris begins appearing at the Crossroads after you progress through the story, shortly after facing her for the first time in the Rift of Thessaly.

Her appearances at the Crossroads are random each night. However, after gradually improving your relationship and obtaining all 14 hearts, the next time she appears there she will have a heart icon above her head. Speak to her and you will have the opportunity to see the special romantic scene that concludes her romance.

How do you romance Nemesis?

Hades 2 - How to romance Nemesis

Nemesis is one of the characters who lives at the Crossroads by default from the beginning of the game. After raising your relationship with her to the maximum and forging your bond, you must meet a very specific requirement for the opportunity to see her special romantic scene to appear.

More specifically, you must have a challenge encounter with Nemesis during an Underworld run. Nemesis can challenge you to a contest in any random chamber containing enemies, anywhere between Erebus and the final chamber of Tartarus. In other words, you need to complete Underworld runs and hope you encounter Nemesis before reaching Chronos.

If you are lucky enough to encounter her after maxing out your relationship, a special event should trigger, allowing you to see her final romance scene. If she does not appear or the event fails to trigger, simply keep playing until it does.

How do you romance Icarus?

Hades 2 - How to romance Icarus

Icarus is a character you can begin encountering after gaining access to the surface route, specifically upon reaching the Rift of Thessaly after defeating the Polyphemus boss. Over time, as you strengthen your bond with him, Melinoë will also invite him to visit the Crossroads, where he may randomly appear near the garden plots.

After improving your relationship with Icarus at least 13 times, one of the next times you speak to him you should learn a new Cauldron Incantation called "Night Life for the Dead". You must then perform this Incantation to obtain an Ectoplasmic Draught, which you can give to him.

After giving Icarus the Draught, encounter him again at the Crossroads on another night and he will have a heart icon above his head. Speak to him for the opportunity to see his special romantic scene.
