Hades 2, being a sequel, introduces several new gameplay features, including Tools, a series of useful items you can obtain for different purposes. In this section of our guide, we will show you how many Tools there are in the game, how to unlock them all and exactly what each one does, so you can make the most of them.
Before you can begin unlocking each of the main Tools in Hades 2, you must first meet one requirement during your playthrough:
Moly is a type of yellow-petaled plant that can be gathered by hand in the different areas of Erebus whenever it is not raining. As you make your way through Erebus, always keep an eye out for one of these glowing plants in each Location. Once you have collected one, return to the Crossroads and spend it on the Incantation mentioned above. The Tools will then appear in their own section of the Silver Pool, the same place where you can find the Nocturnal Arms.
Bear in mind that the Tools will not be ready to use immediately. However, from this point onward, you will be able to unlock each one once you have gathered the necessary materials, which are listed below.
Hades 2 features a total of 4 different Gathering Tools that allow you to collect various resources throughout the Underworld. Bear in mind that you can only equip one at a time during each attempt or run, so choose carefully before setting out based on which materials you want to obtain.
These are all the Tools available in the game:
The Crescent Pick is used to extract minerals from Ore Deposits. Each region or biome in Hades 2 has its own specific minerals, such as Silver in Erebus or Bronze on the surface near the City of Ephyra, making this pick extremely useful.
It is also the first Tool you will be able to unlock, and we recommend doing so as soon as you get the chance so you can start putting it to good use.
The Tablet of Peace is a rather unusual Tool, as it allows you to pacify and invite Lone Shades to the Crossroads, earning Psyche as a reward. This resource is useful if you want to increase your Arcana Grasp limit.
As you make your way through the Underworld, you may occasionally come across semi-transparent greenish spirits. If you have the Tablet equipped, you can complete a short minigame in which you alternate between one hand and the other until you successfully complete the interaction and obtain your reward.
As you might expect, the Silver Spade is used to dig up patches of soil throughout the Underworld, allowing you to obtain resources such as Mystery Seeds, useful Reagents and other items.
By digging with the Spade in different regions or biomes, you can obtain seeds such as Nightshade Seeds or Garlic Cloves. If you have enough space, you can later plant and grow them at the Crossroads, obtaining fully grown plants after several minutes.
The Rod of Fishing is a returning Tool from the first Hades. Unsurprisingly, it is used to catch various aquatic creatures, which you can later sell for Bones, one of the game's currencies.
With the Rod equipped, you can cast your line whenever you spot a fish in a body of water and attempt to catch it. Wait for the right moment when it bites—you will know when the water splashes forcefully—and reel in different specimens throughout the world's various regions.
