Pokémon Champions places a strong emphasis on competitive multiplayer battles, which is why this free-to-play game makes it easier and more intuitive than ever to train your Pokémon with exactly the attributes you want. If you have any questions, this section of our guide will show you how to change the moves and Stat Alignments of the Pokémon you've already recruited, how to increase their Stat Points, and more. Here's everything you need to power up your teams!

  • Important: remember that Pokémon obtained through Trial Recruitment cannot be trained or have their attributes changed.

How to Increase Stat Points (EVs)

As in other games, Pokémon in Pokémon Champions have six main stats: HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed. At the Training Center run by Cordy, you can increase these stats to make your Pokémon stronger, in a system commonly compared to EV training.

Here are the most important details you should know:

  • In Pokémon Champions, every Pokémon can have up to 66 Stat Points distributed across all its stats, which would be equivalent to 528 EVs in the series' traditional games.
  • Every Stat Point you invest directly adds one point to that stat.
  • Increasing one of a Pokémon's stats by 1 point costs 5 Victory Points. Reducing a stat does not cost any VP.
  • If you want to train a Pokémon to the maximum, you will need 330 Victory Points to allocate all 66 available Stat Points.
  • Each individual stat can be increased by up to 32 points, which would be equivalent to 256 EVs in the series' traditional games.

With this information, you should have a better idea of how to improve your Pokémon in Champions. Pokémon do not have levels or earn Experience Points in this game, as they are all considered to be balanced at level 50. Instead, you can spend VP to increase whichever stats you choose and build your Pokémon around a specific role.

For example, if you want to prioritize a Pokémon's offensive potential, you should focus on maximizing either its Attack or Special Attack alongside its Speed. There are plenty of possibilities, so experiment with this useful system to create your ideal Pokémon.

How to Change Moves and Abilities

Pokémon Champions' Training Center allows you to adjust and customize your Pokémon's moves and Abilities.

  • Change moves: you can replace one of a Pokémon's moves and teach it a new one for 250 Victory Points.
  • Change Ability: you can change a Pokémon's Ability for 500 Victory Points each time.

Bear in mind that you can only choose moves and Abilities available in Pokémon Champions. This is particularly important when transferring Pokémon from Pokémon HOME. For example, if a Pokémon brought over from HOME knows a move that is unavailable in Champions, you will need to teach it a valid replacement.

How to Change Stat Alignment (Nature)

In Pokémon Champions, every Pokémon has a Stat Alignment, the game's equivalent of a Nature in the mainline games. Each Stat Alignment increases one of the Pokémon's stats by 10% while reducing another by 10%, which is why Natures are also known as stat modifiers.

One of the useful features of Pokémon Champions is that Cordy's Training Center allows you to change a Pokémon's Stat Alignment however you like, letting you influence exactly the stats you want. Doing so costs 500 Victory Points each time.

However, changing a Pokémon's Stat Alignment in Pokémon Champions cannot increase or reduce its HP stat. It can influence the other five main stats: Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed. You can therefore choose from all the available Stat Alignments to adjust these stats according to the needs of each Pokémon.

Can You Change a Pokémon's IVs?

The traditional Pokémon IV system, also known as Individual Values or individual strengths, is not present in Pokémon Champions.

In the franchise's mainline games, IVs represent a set of genetic values that influence the maximum potential of a Pokémon's six stats. Each stat can have an IV ranging from 0 to 31.

In Pokémon Champions, however, it is effectively as though every Pokémon has perfect IVs by default, since any of its stats can be trained to the maximum using Stat Points, as explained above. Therefore, you do not need to consider IVs when training your Pokémon, and they have no effect on the game's competitive battles.
