Like other games in the series, Pokémon Champions allows us to equip Pokémon with items that give them special effects during battles. However, aside from a handful of items obtained for free after completing the tutorial and recruiting your first Pokémon through the initial recruitment, all other items must be purchased from the Frontier Shop using Victory Points.

Naturally, if this is your first Pokémon game, you may not be entirely sure which items are better than others or which ones are most worth buying first. In this section of our guide, we will show you the most useful options and those we believe stand above the rest. If you are unsure where to invest your VP, this article should help you decide.

What Are the Best Battle Items?

In Pokémon, battle items generally boost stats or certain probabilities, restore HP, or make particular moves more effective, among other benefits.

Below are the best battle items you can use in Pokémon Champions:

• Focus Sash: If the holder has full HP, it survives a move that would otherwise knock it out with 1 HP remaining. It can be used once per battle.
• Choice Scarf: Boosts the holder's Speed by 50%, but once it has used a move, it can only use that same move until it is switched out.
• Leftovers: Restores 1/16 of the holder's maximum HP at the end of each turn.
• King's Rock: Gives the holder's damaging moves a 10% chance to make the target flinch.
• Quick Claw: Gives the holder a 20% chance to act first when its move has the same priority as the other moves being used.
• White Herb: Restores any of the holder's stats that have been lowered. It can be used once per battle.
• Silk Scarf: Boosts the power of the holder's Normal-type moves by 20%.

Bear in mind that several of these items are obtained for free after your initial recruitment. In fact, you will receive all the items listed above except the Silk Scarf, saving you quite a few VP.

Besides those mentioned above, you may also want to buy items that boost the power of moves of particular types, depending on the Pokémon and types featured on your teams. These include Black Glasses, Silver Powder, Metal Coat, Soft Sand, Hard Stone, Miracle Seed, Black Belt, Mystic Water, Magnet, Sharp Beak, Poison Barb, Spell Tag, Never-Melt Ice, Twisted Spoon, Charcoal, Dragon Fang, and Fairy Feather.

What Are the Best Berries?

Berries are another type of item that can be given to Pokémon. They often reduce incoming damage, cure status conditions, or restore HP, which is particularly important in Pokémon Champions because healing items such as Potions cannot be used during battles.

Below are the best Berries you can use in Pokémon Champions:

• Sitrus Berry: Restores 1/4 of the holder's maximum HP when its HP falls to half or less. It can be used once per battle.
• Lum Berry: Cures the holder of any status condition or confusion. It can be used once per battle.
• Chesto Berry: Wakes the holder if it falls asleep. It can be used once per battle.
• Cheri Berry: Cures the holder of paralysis. It can be used once per battle.
• Yache Berry: Halves the damage the holder takes from a super-effective Ice-type attack. It can be used once per battle.
• Haban Berry: Halves the damage the holder takes from a super-effective Dragon-type attack. It can be used once per battle.
• Occa Berry: Halves the damage the holder takes from a super-effective Fire-type attack. It can be used once per battle.
• Shuca Berry: Halves the damage the holder takes from a super-effective Ground-type attack. It can be used once per battle.
• Chople Berry: Halves the damage the holder takes from a super-effective Fighting-type attack. It can be used once per battle.

Both the Sitrus Berry and Lum Berry are obtained for free after completing the tutorial, so you can go straight to buying the others if you think they suit your teams and strategies.

What Are the Best Mega Stones?

Mega Stones allow Pokémon to Mega Evolve during battle when the corresponding Pokémon is holding one. This boosts the Pokémon's stats and temporarily makes it more powerful.

Below are the best Mega Stones you can use in Pokémon Champions:

• Garchompite
• Dragoninite
• Froslassite
• Hawluchanite
• Floettite

Remember that, of all the Mega Stones listed above, Garchompite and Gyaradosite can be obtained for free by completing the Mega Evolution tutorial at the Training Center. This tutorial will also reward you with Beedrillite, Steelixite, Heracronite, Aggronite, Manectite, and Abomasite.

Some of these Mega Stones can also be obtained as rewards from the Battle Pass, such as Dragoninite, which is featured in the game's first Battle Pass. Others, such as Floettite, are received as gifts for transferring Pokémon from Pokémon HOME.
