Although Pokémon Champions was designed to focus on the competitive side of the series' turn-based battles, some players who are not yet familiar with all the details of this free-to-play game may still be wondering whether it includes any co-op modes or even split-screen support for local battles. In this section of our guide, we will quickly answer both questions.
Unfortunately, Pokémon Champions does not currently feature any local co-op modes. All of the game's game modes focus on online multiplayer, so you cannot play tournaments in local co-op or even team up with a friend to battle against the CPU, in case you were hoping for something along those lines.
What you can do is create private matches in a room with a custom ID. However, these matches still require an internet connection, and each player must join the room from their own system, whether that is a Nintendo Switch console or a mobile device.
Unless stated otherwise in the future, there do not appear to be any plans to add co-op modes to the game, so keep that in mind.
As explained above, Pokémon Champions does not include local co-op modes, so it does not offer any split-screen mode that lets you play alongside a friend on the same console either.
