Los Game Developers Choice Awards, los premios que se entregarán durante el Independent Game Festival Awards en la GDC 2024, ha anunciado los finalistas en las distintas categorías a mejor juego del año 2023. Baldur's Gate 3 y The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom encabezan las nominaciones, pues optan a siete premios, seguidos de Cocoon, que puede llevarse hasta cinco. Todos ellos están nominados a Juego del año junto a Dave the Diver, Dredge y Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
Los ganadores se anunciarán en la ceremonia de los GDCA que se realizará el 20 de marzo en el Moscone Convention Center de San Francisco. Cualquier juego, a excepción de "mejoras, expansiones y paquetes de misiones", podía ser nominado, sin importar la plataforma para la que se hubiera lanzado o el método de distribución. Los nominados son elegidos por el ICAN (International Choica Awards Networks), "un grupo solo por invitación compuesto de creadores líderes de juegos de todas partes de la industria del videojuego".
Además de los finalistas elegidos por el ICAN, también hay un premio del público. Los interesados pueden votar en este formulario a una lista de títulos elegidos previamente por esos desarrolladores.
