    SNK Playmore es la denominación que adquirió la histórica SNK tras su quiebra en 2001 y la creación de una nueva estructura empresarial por su fundador Eikichi Kawasaki. Tras la bancarrota, Kawasaki impulsó Playmore para recomprar activos y licencias de la antigua SNK, integrando empresas como BrezzaSoft, Noise Factory y la distribuidora Sun Amusement. En julio de 2003, Playmore pasó a llamarse oficialmente SNK Playmore, reincorporando a buena parte de la plantilla original y reactivando la actividad en Japón y el extranjero.

    SNK Playmore relanzó sagas icónicas como The King of Fighters, Metal Slug, Samurai Shodown y nuevos títulos para el hardware Neo Geo (hasta 2004) y posteriormente para placas arcade como Atomiswave y Taito Type X. También expandió su presencia a móviles y consolas, reeditando y produciendo recopilatorios de sus franquicias, aunque el éxito comercial fue menor que en la etapa dorada de los 90. Durante este periodo, SNK Playmore tuvo que defender legalmente sus licencias contra usos no autorizados, y continuó consolidando su red de filiales, incluyendo oficinas en Estados Unidos y Asia.

    En 2016, la compañía recuperó su identidad original y volvió a denominarse simplemente SNK Corporation, eliminando “Playmore” del logotipo y retomando el eslogan “The Future Is Now”. Este cambio marcó una vuelta a sus raíces de marca y ha supuesto una revitalización de sus IPs clásicas y un reposicionamiento en el mercado global, especialmente en el sector de los juegos de lucha y arcade.
