En un año que pasará a la historia para la cultura del videojuego (y por motivos menos positivos, también para la industria), Baldur's Gate 3 se ha llevado el galardón a Juego del Año (GOTY, por sus siglas en inglés) en The Game Awards 2023.
El rol de Larian Studios ha conseguido más votos de entre los 120 medios internacionales participantes (la opinión del público cuenta un 10 %) para hacerse con la estatuilla principal, pero suma otros cuatro premios: mejor actuación (Neil Newbon, Astarion), apoyo a la comunidad, mejor juego de rol y mejor multijugador.
Hay otro par de títulos con más de un galardón. Alan Wake 2 se ha llevado los premios a mejor dirección de juego y a mejor dirección artística, y Forza Motorsport las estatuillas a innovación en accesibilidad y a mejor juego de deportes y carreras.
