Looking for GTA 5 cheats on PS5 or PS4? Both consoles use the same 34 Story Mode gameplay codes. Below you will find every PlayStation controller combination and in-game phone number for invincibility, health and armor, weapons, Wanted Levels, world effects and vehicle spawns.
Story Mode only: cheats do not work in GTA Online, and GTA 5 has no money cheat. Activating a gameplay cheat temporarily disables trophies for the current play session, so make a manual save before using one.
These are the codes players look up most often. PS5 and PS4 use exactly the same combinations and phone numbers.
| Cheat | PS5 and PS4 button code | Phone number |
|---|---|---|
| Invincibility | Right, X, Right, Left, Right, R1, Right, Left, X, Triangle | 1-999-724-654-5537 |
| Max Health and Armor | Circle, L1, Triangle, R2, X, Square, Circle, Right, Square, L1, L1, L1 | 1-999-887-853 |
| Weapons and Ammo | Triangle, R2, Left, L1, X, Right, Triangle, Down, Square, L1, L1, L1 | 1-999-866-587 |
| Lower Wanted Level | R1, R1, Circle, R2, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left | 1-999-5299-3787 |
| Super Jump | Left, Left, Triangle, Triangle, Right, Right, Left, Right, Square, R1, R2 | 1-999-467-8648 |
| Spawn Buzzard Attack Chopper | Circle, Circle, L1, Circle, Circle, Circle, L1, L2, R1, Triangle, Circle, Triangle | 1-999-2899-633 |
The full tables below contain all 34 gameplay cheats, including every standard effect and the three unlockable phone-only vehicle codes.
You can activate GTA 5 cheats in two ways on PS5 and PS4: by entering a controller combination or by calling a number on the in-game phone. Both methods produce the same effect.
This guide writes the PlayStation Cross button as X and spells out Square, Circle and Triangle. If the game does not recognise a combination, start again and enter it slightly faster.
You can also enter controller codes from the Pause Menu. Open a submenu or press Triangle first so a Circle input does not immediately close the menu. After finishing the sequence, return to the game with the OPTIONS button rather than backing out with Circle. Entering codes directly during free roam is usually simpler.
Phone cheats are not saved permanently as contacts. Press * on the dial pad to re-enter the last number used, which is particularly useful for temporary effects such as Invincibility.
Words such as PAINKILLER, TOOLUP and BUZZOFF are memorable labels for the numbers. They are also used as commands on PC, but PlayStation players must dial the corresponding number. Phone-number cheats work on PS5 and PS4, but not on the original PS3 edition; use the separate GTA 5 PS3 cheats guide for that console.

If a vehicle does not appear, move outdoors to a flat, open area and try again. Aircraft and the Buzzard need considerably more room than cars or bikes and cannot spawn inside buildings, tunnels or other confined spaces.
There is no cheat that spawns every GTA 5 vehicle. Models not listed here must be found, stolen, purchased or unlocked normally. You can compare their acquisition methods, prices and performance in our complete GTA 5 cars and vehicles list.
PS5 and PS4 include three additional vehicle cheats that use the in-game phone. They do not have controller combinations and only work after their unlock requirement has been completed on the current Story Mode save.
| Vehicle | Phone number | Unlock requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Dodo Seaplane | 1-999-398-4628 (EXTINCT) | After Nervous Ron, complete the Sea Plane Random Event. |
| Kraken Submarine | 1-999-282-2537 (BUBBLES) | As Franklin, complete Paparazzo and then photograph all 20 animals for the Wildlife Photography Challenge. |
| Imponte Duke O'Death | 1-999-3328-4227 (DEATHCAR) | After Pulling Favors, complete the Duel Random Event. |
These codes do not bypass their requirements. If EXTINCT, BUBBLES or DEATHCAR does nothing, confirm that the associated event or challenge has been completed on that save and then try the number again in a clear outdoor area.
| Entry | Phone number | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Director Mode | 1-999-5782-5368 (JRTALENT) | Leaves normal Story Mode and opens Director Mode, where you can stage scenes using unlocked actors, locations and settings. |
Director Mode is a separate creative mode rather than a normal gameplay cheat. It can also be opened through the Interaction Menu when available. Rockstar Editor was removed from the PS4 edition on February 20, 2024, but Director Mode itself remains accessible. The native PS5 edition still includes Rockstar Editor.
A PS5 running the backward-compatible PS4 edition uses the PS4 feature set. If you own only the standalone GTA Online product, Rockstar states that you must purchase Story Mode before accessing Director Mode or Rockstar Editor.
| Entry | Phone number | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Black Cellphone | 1-999-367-3767 (EMPDROP) | Changes the in-game phone to a larger black version and, when the character is on foot, triggers a harmless explosion in the air nearby. |
Black Cellphone is a hidden Easter egg, not a useful combat, vehicle or progression cheat. Dial the number again to restore the normal phone.
Yes. Rockstar's official support guidance confirms that saving is allowed while cheat codes are enabled. However, trophies are temporarily disabled for the affected play session.
The safest routine is to create a separate manual save before using any code. Reload that clean save or reboot the console before returning to trophy hunting, mission medals or normal progression. Using cheats does not permanently invalidate the save's 100% Completion progress.
Many searches and videos claim that GTA 5 contains codes for unlimited cash, infinite ammo or military vehicles. Those built-in cheats do not exist on PS5, PS4 or any other platform.
| Requested cheat | Does it exist? | What is actually available |
|---|---|---|
| Money or unlimited cash | No | Earn money through Story Mode missions, heists and investments. |
| Infinite ammo | No | Weapons and Ammo supplies a limited amount; enter it again when you need more. |
| Every weapon | No | The weapon code gives a fixed selection rather than every base-game and later-added weapon. |
| Rhino Tank spawn | No | No controller or phone code spawns the Rhino. |
| P-996 LAZER spawn | No | No built-in cheat spawns the fighter jet. |
| Change the time of day | No | Change Weather cycles weather presets but does not move the clock. |
| GTA Online cheats | No | All built-in GTA 5 cheat codes are restricted to Story Mode. |
For legitimate single-player earning methods, use our GTA 5 Story Mode money guide and Stock Market and Lester investment guide.
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| No confirmation appears | Make sure you are in Story Mode, use the D-pad for directions and enter the complete sequence more quickly. |
| "Cheat Denied" appears | Leave the mission, activity, interior or scripted sequence and try again during unrestricted outdoor free roam. |
| A phone number does nothing | Check every digit, press Square to place the call and confirm that you are not playing GTA Online or the PS3 edition. |
| Skyfall is denied | Disable Super Jump if it is active and try Skyfall again in unrestricted free roam. |
| A standard vehicle does not spawn | Move outdoors to a flat area with enough room, especially when spawning aircraft or the Buzzard. |
| Dodo, Kraken or Duke O'Death does not spawn | Complete the vehicle's Story Mode unlock requirement on the current save before dialing its number. |
| A trophy does not unlock | Reload a clean save or reboot the console to reset the cheat session, then complete the trophy requirement again. |
| An effect will not switch off | Try entering the code again. If it remains active, reload a save or reboot the console. |
Yes. GTA 5 uses the same Story Mode controller combinations and in-game phone numbers on PS5 and PS4. No conversion is required.
There are 34 gameplay cheats: 31 standard codes and three phone-only vehicle spawns with unlock requirements. Director Mode and Black Cellphone are separate special entries, bringing the complete inventory covered on this page to 36.
