GTA 5 has 34 gameplay cheat codes on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. They cover invincibility, health and armor, weapons and ammunition, Wanted Levels, movement, world effects and vehicle spawns. This guide also includes the separate Director Mode shortcut and hidden Black Cellphone Easter egg.
Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S use the same controller combinations and in-game phone numbers. Enter a button sequence during normal play, or dial its number on the character's phone. See the complete GTA 5 guide for walkthroughs, collectibles, money, properties and 100% completion help.
Story Mode only: these built-in cheats do not work in GTA Online. GTA 5 also has no money cheat. Activating a code temporarily disables Xbox achievements for the current play session, so make a manual save before you begin.

Both methods below work on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The phone method is not available in the Xbox 360 edition; use our separate GTA 5 Xbox 360 cheats page for that version.
Do not press all the buttons at once. Read the sequence from left to right and enter one input after another. If nothing happens, start again and enter it slightly faster.
Pause Menu option: controller combinations can also be entered while the Pause Menu is open. After entering the complete code, close the menu with the Menu button rather than backing out with B. Normal free-roam entry remains the simplest method.
About the words below each number: PAINKILLER, CATCHME, BUZZOFF and the other words are memorable labels for the codes; many are also the corresponding PC commands. Xbox players must dial the number, because these words cannot be typed as console commands.

The weapon code has limits: it supplies a standard set of weapons and some ammunition. It does not unlock every weapon added to GTA 5, and ammunition still runs out.

Use Skyfall carefully: this is not a flying cheat or a safe fast-travel method. It starts a dangerous free fall. You can steer and glide to a degree, but you cannot deploy a parachute during the fall.
The following 11 vehicles can be spawned during unrestricted Story Mode free roam, provided there is enough clear space. They use either a controller combination or a phone number. For vehicle statistics, prices and normal acquisition methods, see the complete GTA 5 cars and vehicles list.
If a vehicle does not appear: move outdoors and find a larger clear area. Aircraft and the Buzzard need considerably more space than a bike or car and cannot spawn inside buildings, tunnels or other confined locations.

There is no controller or phone cheat that spawns every vehicle. The codes above cover only the listed models; other vehicles must be found, stolen, purchased or unlocked normally.
Three additional vehicle codes become available only after you complete their Story Mode unlock requirements. They are phone-only: none has an Xbox controller combination. Completing the requirement once makes the corresponding number usable on that save.

Older guides call these vehicles returning player
exclusives. That account-history restriction no longer applies in current Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions; the Story Mode event or challenge listed above is the requirement that still matters.
If the call does nothing: check the unlock requirement first. Dialling the phone number labelled EXTINCT, BUBBLES or DEATHCAR on a save that has not completed the relevant event or challenge will not bypass the unlock.
These final two numbers are not normal gameplay cheats. One is a shortcut to a separate mode, and the other is a hidden Easter egg. Both require the in-game phone and have no controller combination.

Xbox One note: Rockstar Editor was removed from the Xbox One edition in February 2024. Director Mode itself remains accessible, but the phone code should not be described as opening the removed video editor. Rockstar Editor remains available in the Xbox Series X|S edition.
Rockstar's support guidance makes a useful distinction: cheats do not permanently damage a save, but they do change what is available during the current play session.
Cheat Denied: Cannot activate that cheat right now.
Safest routine: create a separate manual save before using cheats. When you are ready to resume missions, achievements or the GTA 5 100% completion checklist, reload that clean save or reboot the console.
No money cheat exists in GTA 5 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S or any other platform. There is no legitimate button combination or phone number that adds cash in Story Mode, and built-in cheat codes cannot be used in GTA Online. Videos or pages claiming otherwise normally show mods, obsolete exploits or fake sequences.
